AIMIM to Intensify Fight for Seemanchal’s Development, Says Owaisi After Bihar Win
Hyderabad, Nov 2025 : All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday said that the party’s victory in five seats in the Bihar Assembly elections marks a renewed commitment to fighting for justice, development, and equitable growth in the state’s backward Seemanchal region. He asserted that despite political setbacks and attempts by rivals to weaken the party, AIMIM will continue to stand firmly with the people of Seemanchal.
Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, the AIMIM chief said the party “wholeheartedly welcomes” the mandate given by the people of Bihar. “We congratulate Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and extend our best wishes to the new government,” he said. Owaisi added that the party remains ready to cooperate with the state government on any initiative aimed at uplifting Seemanchal.
“Our focus will be on reducing child mortality, building schools and hospitals, improving connectivity through bridges, and encouraging industrial development that directly benefits women and children,” he said. “We will fully cooperate with the government to ensure this progress.”
Owaisi noted that despite AIMIM losing its MLAs in 2022 when four members defected under pressure from rival parties, the party never abandoned Seemanchal. “Even after losing our representatives, we stayed with the people. We declared that we would continue our fight—and today, the people have rewarded that commitment,” he said, thanking voters for electing five AIMIM legislators.
He said the result sends a powerful message to minorities across the country. “I appeal to Muslim society not to remain mere voters for others, but to become citizens who demand rights,” he said. “If you only vote for others, you will be forgotten after the election. But if you assert yourself as citizens, no one will ignore you when a crisis comes.”
Owaisi also urged secular parties to introspect instead of blaming Muslims for electoral losses. “You cannot accuse a particular caste of not voting for you, yet blame Muslims because you think they are your captive voters,” he said. “Muslims are not bonded labourers. They can vote for whoever they believe will work for them.”
He reiterated that he had consistently warned that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) would not be able to stop the BJP. “People were misled by the M-Y formula. I said it earlier and I am saying it again—if you remain only vote-givers, your leadership will never grow, and you will never be able to stop communal and fascist forces,” he said.
Without naming the Mahagathbandhan, Owaisi said it must introspect on why it failed to stop the BJP despite making tall claims. “Merely cursing AIMIM will not help you,” he added.
He also dismissed Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav’s remarks blaming the AIMIM-backed SIR for the Opposition’s defeat. “Look at your own weaknesses. Those days are gone when leaders acted like ‘raja’ and voters like ‘praja’,” he remarked.
The AIMIM chief also welcomed the victory of Congress candidate Naveen Yadav in the Jubilee Hills by-election in Telangana and revealed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had personally thanked him for the party’s support. Calling it a “significant win after the 2023 elections,” Owaisi expressed hope that the government would prioritise improving civic amenities and infrastructure in Jubilee Hills and across Hyderabad.
He also defended his party’s political positioning in Telangana, noting that the vote share of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) was steadily declining, validating AIMIM’s stance.
