‘Navarambh’ of Education in UP: Children from shelter homes will connect to the mainstream

Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh launches first major push to modernize learning for vulnerable children in the state

46 teachers from the basic education department deputed to child care institutions are being made experts

Teachers are being trained in four sessions so children can grow according to their interests

They will be trained in justice systems, challenges, safety and protection, life skills, digital learning, and computational thinking

Under the aegis of the Juvenile Justice Committee, SCERT has started the training under the ‘Conclave on Justice for Children’

Lucknow, Nov 2025 : For the first time in the state, a major and innovative step has been taken to connect children from child and juvenile shelter homes with the mainstream. With the support of the Women Welfare Department, UNICEF, and SCERT, a special training module called ‘Navarambh’ has been launched. Under this, 46 selected teachers from the basic education department are being made modern experts.

This special program has been launched under the leadership and direction of Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh with the aim that children in shelter homes can move forward in the mainstream according to their interests just like other children.
Minister Sandeep Singh said that showing the right direction to every child and boosting their confidence is our top priority. Four sessions are being held in this special program which will run till 21 November.

Director General of School Education Monika Rani said, ” responsibility for children living in shelter homes rests on the shoulders of teachers. She said that the efforts will make these children self-reliant and capable just like other children. With some effort and the right guidance they can return to the mainstream.”

This training program was launched at SCERT, Lucknow during the Conclave on Justice for Children organized under the aegis of the Juvenile Justice Committee. During this, experts stressed understanding children’s psychological needs, their social environment, and their learning process.
