Madhya Pradesh a Hub of Scientific Research: Minister Sarang
Minister for Sports, Youth Welfare and Cooperatives, Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang, has stated that Madhya Pradesh is located at the heart of India, and all conditions here are favourable for scientific research. Therefore, the central government can develop Madhya Pradesh as a major hub for scientific research. He said that the state can coordinate better with the scientific research activities being conducted in other parts of the country. Minister Shri Sarang described the organisation of the Child Scientist Exhibition in the state as a significant moment.
Minister Shri Sarang was addressing the closing ceremony of the 59th National Child Scientist Exhibition in Bhopal on Saturday. More than 800 child scientists and teachers from 23 states, 7 Union Territories and 7 national institutions jointly showcased 240 science models at the exhibition. Mayor of Bhopal Municipal Corporation, Smt. Malti Rai, was also present on the occasion.
Yong Scientists Depict a Bright Future of India
Minister Shri Sarang said that the child scientists have presented innovative science-based models, which portray a bright future for India. He said that with continuous encouragement, any one of these young scientists could one day win a Nobel Prize. Minister Shri Sarang stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has emphasised the importance of research through the new slogan: ‘Jai Jawan – Jai Kisan – Jai Vigyan – Jai Anusandhan’. He further said that the state government has prepared medical textbooks in Hindi to facilitate medical education in the Matri Bhasah (Mother Tongue), a step that has received appreciation across the country.
‘Matri Bhasha’ Prioritised in the New Education Policy
Shri Sanjay Kumar (Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, Government of India, New Delhi) congratulated the School Education Department for the successful organisation of the National Child Scientist Exhibition. Discussing the National Education Policy (NEP), he said, “The NEP strongly emphasises that early education should be imparted in the mother tongue”. He stated that the cognitive development of children in their early years happens best in their own language.
Secretary Shri Sanjay Kumar also stressed learning English as a subject and encouraged students to learn multiple languages. He said that every child entering Class 1 should compulsorily continue schooling at least until Class 12. He also emphasized creating a joyful learning environment in schools.
The event was addressed by Shri Dinesh Prasad Saklani(Director, NCERT, New Delhi), Dr. Arvind C. Ranade (Director, National Innovation Foundation, Gandhinagar, Gujarat) and Prof. Sunita Farkya (NCERT). Secretary, Shri Sanjay Goyal (School Education), Shri Harjinder Singh (Director, State Education Center) and other departmental officials were present during event.
