Bihar Government Reshuffles Official Residences, Tej Pratap Yadav Asked to Vacate 26 M Strand Road

Patna, Nov 2025 : In a notable reshuffle of official residences in Bihar, the state’s Building Construction Department has directed former minister Tej Pratap Yadav to vacate his government-allotted bungalow at 26 M Strand Road. The residence has now been reassigned to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Minister Lakhendra Kumar Roshan.

The announcement coincided with an eviction order for former Chief Minister Rabri Devi’s residence at 10 Circular Road, fueling speculation about Tej Pratap’s next move, especially as he is currently away from his mother’s home.

Tej Pratap, elder son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, has faced a string of political and personal setbacks in recent months. Tensions with the RJD leadership escalated following a controversy over a personal photograph that went viral on social media. While Tej Pratap claimed that his account was hacked, Lalu Prasad Yadav responded by expelling him from both the party and the family for six years.

In the aftermath, Tej Pratap launched his own political outfit, the Janshakti Janata Dal, and contested the Mahua Assembly seat. However, his party failed to win any seats, marking a significant political blow. The loss of his government residence further complicates his political trajectory.

The new housing allotments come under the administration of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s government, which has reallocated official residences to 13 ministers. According to the latest order, Industry Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal has been allotted 2 Strand Road, Information Technology and Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh gets 4 Strand Road, Labour Resources Minister Sanjay Singh Tiger has 41 Harding Road, and Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Youth Minister Arun Shankar Prasad receives 25 Harding Road.

Other allotments include Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav at 43 Harding Road, Disaster Management Minister Narayan Prasad at 12 Harding Road, Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class Welfare Minister Rama Nishad at 3 Circular Road, Cooperative and Environment Minister Pramod Kumar at 27 Harding Road, Sugarcane Industry Minister Sanjay Kumar at 21 Harding Road, Public Health Engineering Minister Sanjay Kumar Singh at 13 Harding Road, and Panchayati Raj Minister Deepak Prakash at 24 M Strand Road.

The Building Construction Department clarified that all previous housing allotment orders have been amended to reflect the updated allocations, which have been approved by the competent authority, effectively completing the reshuffle.
