Government Committed to Promote Sports Culture in State: CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the Government is committed to all-round development of youth. The Sports Department is carrying out various activities to promote a sports culture in State. In the ancient tradition of India, sport was not viewed only as recreation but also as a means of discipline, balance and mental strength. In earlier times, rowing, swimming and water training were considered an important part of strategic and physical skill. The same tradition appears today before us as water sports. It is a field in which technique, endurance and focus are tested in a real sense. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that hosting the Rowing Championship is a matter of pride and joy for the State Government. He was addressing the gathering at the Boat Club on Upper Lake in Bhopal on Wednesday during the inauguration of the 8th Inter-State Challengers and 45th Junior National Rowing Championship.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav formally declared the championship open. He witnessed the march-past presented by nearly 500 players from 23 States, who participated while marching to patriotic tunes. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was welcomed with a ceremonial cap on his arrival at the venue. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Vishvas Sarang, Bhopal Mayor Smt. Malti Rai, senior officers, and sports enthusiasts were also present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a highly conducive environment for sports has been created in the country. India is steadily
achieving success in international competitions. Madhya Pradesh has enhanced the nation’s pride by winning medals in water sports at prestigious platforms such as the Asian Games. Players from the State delivered outstanding performances in the 38th National Games held this year, as well as in Khelo India and the Water Sports Festival. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav encouraged players from various States who came to Bhopal for the championship to experience the art, culture and tastes of Madhya Pradesh and to visit the tourist sites around Bhopal.
Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Vishvas Sarang said that this four-day rowing championship will establish itself as a major gathering of water sports. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, the State Government is working throughout Madhya Pradesh to support sport, players and sports fields. Activities are being carried out at the national and international level for exchange of knowledge related to training required for sport and sportsmen. Coaches and players from different States attended the event.
