Lucknow, Dec 2025 : Under the leadership and direction of Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh, Uttar Pradesh achieved a key milestone in connecting Balvatika education with family participation. On Tuesday, a statewide online orientation was organized to accelerate the Mother Orientation program. In this special YouTube session, nodal SRG, nodal teacher groups, headteachers, Balvatika nodal teachers, Anganwadi workers, and supervisors from the Child Development Services and Nutrition Department took part.

The core message of this orientation was clear that a child’s early learning begins the moment the mother starts speaking. With this belief, the Mother Orientation program is being strengthened by placing the mother’s role at the centre of Balvatika education. The program focuses especially on organizing early learning, language development, nutrition, behavioral habits, and home-based activities for children aged 3 to 6 at co-located Anganwadi centres through family involvement.

Family involvement is crucial in reducing learning gaps at the foundational stage and making children “school ready.” Today’s orientation was conducted with the understanding that UP’s early education policy must not remain confined to classrooms. Instead, it aims to make homes and families active partners in the learning journey. It is believed that this statewide initiative will enrich and strengthen the learning environment at the Balvatika level in the coming months, and every child will receive a strong foundation for their first lessons in life.

Participants were briefed in detail on how to create an effective learning environment at Balvatika and Anganwadi levels and how to involve families, especially mothers, in the learning process. The monthly orientation program has been designed to strengthen home-school coordination and help children develop language, understanding, curiosity, and confidence at a steady pace.

“The mother orientation program is an effective medium to connect the quality of pre-primary education with family participation. A mother plays an extremely important role in guiding a child’s early learning, nutrition, and behaviour. This initiative will give new strength to parent-school partnership across the state”, said, Sandeep Singh, Basic Education Minister, Uttar Pradesh.

The training explained in detail how to communicate in the mother tongue, simple storytelling, conversations, and play-based activities. It was also highlighted that quality time spent with children lays the strongest foundation for foundational learning. Participants were also given detailed instructions on the main points, activities, and step-by-step preparation to be included in the Mother Orientation program.

The Mother Orientation program is being held every month since July 2025 and will continue till March 2026 at all co-located Anganwadi centers across the state. For this, nodal SRG, nodal teacher groups, pre-primary nodal teachers, Anganwadi workers, and supervisors from the Child Development Services and Nutrition Department are being trained in phases so the activities reach children and parents in the right way.

Director General of School Education Monika Rani said that the statewide orientation is a major step toward making the Mother Orientation program more effective. This initiative will strengthen mother-child communication, home-based learning, and Balvatika activities and will further reinforce the spirit of NEP-2020 in co-located Anganwadi centers.
