Raipur, Dec 2025 : Kosi, a young athlete from a remote, Naxal-affected rural area of Dantewada district, has created history by securing first place with her volleyball team in the Dantewada district-level competition of the Bastar Olympics. This achievement is not just a personal milestone—it symbolizes the victory of an entire region where struggle, fear, and hardships have overshadowed children’s dreams for years.

Belonging to a farming family, Kosi grew up amid difficult circumstances. While her family battled agricultural and daily challenges, she viewed volleyball as a ray of hope and continuously honed her skills through hard work. Her father is a farmer, and her siblings still face several challenges in the village, but Kosi’s success has become a moment of pride for both her family and the entire community.

Eklavya Campus, Jawanga recognized Kosi’s potential, offering her training, resources, and opportunities. With this support and her determination, Kosi is now preparing for the divisional-level events in the Bastar Olympics. Her journey reflects not only sporting achievement but also a broader social transformation—children from Naxal-affected regions are returning to playgrounds and building new aspirations.

Despite limited sports facilities, inadequate playgrounds, and security concerns in the region, young athletes like Kosi have chosen sports as their path of courage. Her success proves that if given the right opportunities, exceptional players can emerge even from conflict-hit areas.

Sports experts believe that with continued support from the government and sports institutions, Kosi has the potential to bring glory not just to Bastar but to the entire state of Chhattisgarh at the national level. Her story represents a new generation stepping out of the shadow of guns and building their identity on the sports field.
