Counting for All Municipal Council and Panchayat Elections on December 21

Mumbai, Dec 2025 : The Nagpur Bench of the Mumbai High Court has ordered that the counting of votes for all 288 municipal councils and municipal panchayats in the state will be conducted on December 21, 2025. The court also stated that the results of post-poll verification tests cannot be announced before half an hour after the conclusion of voting on December 20, 2025. Following the court’s order, the State Election Commission has issued instructions to all concerned District Collectors.

The Election Commission has directed that voting machines be handled with utmost care. 24-hour tight security must be maintained at the warehouses where the voting machines are stored. Security equipment, such as CCTV cameras at warehouse entrances, alarm systems, and firefighting arrangements, must be fully operational. Political parties’ authorized representatives should be informed about the warehouses and security arrangements. Additionally, candidates or their authorized representatives must be provided seating at locations from which they can observe the warehouse premises.

Voting was conducted today for 264 municipal councils and panchayats across the state. According to the revised election schedule, elections for all positions, including the chairpersons of 24 municipal councils and panchayats, and 154 member seats across 76 councils and panchayats, will be held on December 20, 2025. Counting for all these elections has now been scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM on December 21, 2025.
