International Day of Persons with Disabilities: Grand State-Level Celebration Held in Surajpur in the Presence of Minister Lakshmi Rajwade
Raipur, Dec 2025: A grand state-level program was organised today at the Surajpur Rangmanch on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, where Minister for Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Mrs. Lakshmi Rajwade, participated and encouraged persons with disabilities.
In her address, she said that persons with disabilities are an invaluable strength of society, and ensuring their dignity, rights, and equal opportunities is the top priority of the state government. She also mentioned that the government is effectively implementing several schemes aimed at promoting education, employment, health, and self-reliance of persons with disabilities.

Minister Rajwade stated that it is the responsibility of every section of society to remain sensitive towards persons with disabilities and to provide them with support and encouragement so that they can become self-reliant and move forward strongly in the mainstream of society.
The programme was attended by MLA Bhulan Singh Maravi, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Forest Development Corporation Ramsevak Paikra, District Panchayat President Mrs. Chandramani Paikra, Municipal Council President Mrs. Kusumlata Rajwade, Surajpur Collector S. Jayavardhan, Director of Social Welfare Mrs. Roktima Yadav, along with public representatives, departmental officials and staff, and a large number of persons with disabilities.
The celebration featured distribution of assistive devices, awareness activities, informative sessions, health consultations, and cultural performances. Presentations by differently-abled artists left a strong impact on the audience.
Attendees at this state-level programme pledged to further strengthen empowerment, respect, and social participation of persons with disabilities.
