‘Ghroghari Tricolor Abhiyan’ is Now a People’s Movement – Chief Minister Eknath Shinde
Mumbai : Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has declared that the ‘Ghroghari Tricolor Abhiyan’ has evolved into a significant people’s movement, emphasizing its role in honoring the sacrifices of freedom fighters. Speaking at the state-level launch of the Har Ghar Triranga (Tricolor in Every Home) campaign at August Kranti Maidan, Shinde highlighted the campaign’s role in fostering nationalism across the country.
The event was attended by Mumbai City Guardian Minister Deepak Kesarkar, Mumbai Suburban Guardian Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Kharge, Rural Development Principal Secretary Eknath Dawle, Urban Development Principal Secretary K. Govind Raj, and other prominent officials including Additional Commissioners of Mumbai Municipal Corporation Ashwini Joshi and Amit Saini, and Mumbai City Collector Sanjay Yadav.
Chief Minister Shinde reflected on the historical significance of August Kranti Maidan, noting that it was here in 1942 that the slogan “Chale Jaav” was introduced, marking a pivotal moment in the freedom struggle. He emphasized that the ongoing tricolor campaign serves as a tribute to the sacrifices made by countless individuals for the country. This year, the campaign aims to see the tricolor displayed at 2.5 crore homes across the state, and on various shops and establishments, symbolizing the values of sacrifice, courage, love, peace, and faith.
The campaign will include rallies, padayatras (foot marches), tricolor selfies, and the recognition of freedom fighters in both urban and rural areas. Shinde expressed confidence that the campaign would succeed with public cooperation and highlighted the state’s commitment to development and welfare initiatives. He also celebrated the achievements of state athletes in the Olympic Games, noting their role in raising the national flag.
Additional Chief Secretary Kharge affirmed that the door-to-door tricolor campaign is being embraced enthusiastically across the country and expressed optimism that the state would continue to lead in this initiative, as it has in the past two years.
Prior to the program, Chief Minister Shinde and other dignitaries paid their respects at the Martyr Memorial Pillar. The event concluded with Shinde initiating a padayatra and cyclothon, signing a tricolor canvas, taking selfies, and leading a tricolor pledge with attendees, including a large number of students from local schools and colleges.
