Effective Strike Against Pollution: Rekha Government’s Action Mode Continues
Rollout Begins at ITO; Mist Spray Systems to be Installed Across Delhi
Public Participation Essential for Effective Pollution Control: CM Rekha Gupta
New Delhi, December 2025 : Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta has said that the Delhi Government is working on a war footing against pollution. She stated that the government’s objective is to find effective solutions to every source and aspect contributing to pollution. In line with this commitment, the Chief Minister today inspected the mist spray system installed at ITO. She instructed officials to ensure the system’s effectiveness and to operate it as per the prescribed schedule. The Chief Minister also emphasised that active public participation is vital to achieving swift and lasting control over pollution.

Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood and senior officials from the concerned departments accompanied the Chief Minister during this inspection visit. She examined the technical aspects of the system, assessed its utility in pollution control, and stated that a comprehensive plan is being prepared to keep all roads in Delhi permanently free from dust and waste. The Chief Minister reiterated that the Delhi Government is working on a war footing against pollution, and public involvement is equally crucial. She added that, considering the long-standing demand for water sprinklers, several provisions have been made, and pilot experiments of mist spray systems in the NDMC area have shown positive results. On this basis, a detailed plan is now being developed for all roads across Delhi.
The Chief Minister noted that an electric mist spray system has been installed on electricity poles at ITO, and its initial results are encouraging. Currently, such mist spray systems are being installed around nine major pollution hotspots where pollution levels are recorded to be at their highest. The initiative will be gradually expanded across the entire city to achieve more effective and widespread outcomes.
The Chief Minister emphasized that all relevant agencies, including the MCD, NHAI, and PWD, have been issued clear instructions to take effective action within their respective jurisdictions. She also appealed to citizens to make active use of the MCD-311 app. This app is being further strengthened as the nodal platform for complaints.
Citizens are encouraged to report issues such as potholes, dust, or any severe pollution-related problem through the app. All agencies have been directed to resolve such complaints within 72 hours.
According to the Chief Minister, the process of installing mist systems at nine major hotspots in the capital is underway, and given its promising results, it will soon be expanded to other areas as well.
Mist Spray System: A Technical Initiative for Dust Control
The mist spray system is an advanced technology specifically designed to control road dust and airborne pollutants. The system is mounted on electricity poles and is equipped with high-pressure pumps and nozzles that spray RO-treated water in an ultra-fine mist.
The government is currently in the process of installing over 300 such systems in a phased manner across Delhi’s major pollution hotspots. The successful implementation of this technology at ITO has paved the way for its expansion to other busy and pollution-prone areas.
Using the MCD-311 App for Pollution Mitigation
Citizens can easily use the MCD-311 app to register complaints related to any civic issue in Delhi such as unauthorised dumping of waste, broken roads, potholes, faulty streetlights, encroachment, sanitation concerns, or any other issue linked to the Municipal Corporation. Users may download the MCD-311 app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, select the appropriate category, and upload a geo-tagged photograph of the issue.
The app automatically forwards the complaint to the concerned department, and citizens can track its status anytime under the “My Complaints” section. Once resolved, the department must upload a photograph for verification, ensuring the process remains transparent and accountable. The Chief Minister has directed all agencies to act on such complaints within 72 hours. This app is poised to become an important medium for ensuring swift, simple and effective grievance redressal in Delhi.
