Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Announces Adilabad Airport, University, and Development Projects
Hyderabad, Dec 2025 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced that work on the newly-sanctioned airport in Adilabad district is expected to begin within a year, signaling a major boost to infrastructure in the backward region.
Addressing a public gathering in Adilabad, the Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu have assured full financial and logistical support for the airport project. “We will bring Airbus to Adilabad, a place where even the ‘Yerra bus’ (state-operated red bus) rarely traverses,” he said, emphasizing the transformative potential of improved connectivity.
In addition to the airport, CM Revanth Reddy announced plans to establish a new university in Adilabad, which will be named after Indravelli or the tribal leader Kumuram Bheem, further strengthening the district’s educational infrastructure. He also promised enhanced irrigation, communication, and educational facilities as part of a broader development initiative for Adilabad.
Appealing to local residents ahead of the gram panchayat elections, the Chief Minister urged them to elect capable sarpanches and minimize election expenses. “If possible, sarpanches should be elected unanimously. Funds will be provided for the comprehensive development of villages,” he said.
CM Reddy criticized the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government for neglecting Adilabad. “The people dethroned the previous government and gave a decisive mandate to the people’s government,” he said, asserting that development and welfare of all communities remain his top priority. He added that he focuses on governance year-round and speaks about politics only during elections.
Reflecting on his political journey, Revanth Reddy said he had held several positions—including Zilla Praja Parishad Territorial Constituency member, MLC, MLA, MP, and now Chief Minister—at a young age and continues to work tirelessly to earn public respect. “I have completed two years as Chief Minister without taking a single leave, serving the people of Telangana without any hurdles,” he noted.
Targeting former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), Reddy criticized the shelving of the Pranahita-Chevella irrigation project, originally initiated at a cost of Rs 38,00 crore by the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for irrigation of 16 lakh acres. He alleged that the BRS abandoned the project, inflated estimates, and shifted focus to the Rs 1.50 lakh crore Kaleshwaram project, which he claimed collapsed in three years.
The Chief Minister also announced that the state government has called for tenders for a new irrigation project near Tummihatti at a height of 150 meters, which will provide water to Adilabad district. He declared that the foundation stone for the project will be laid soon, marking another step toward accelerating development in the region.
