Lawngtlai Plans Christmas & New Year Festivities, Traffic & Safety Guidelines Issued

Lawngtlai, December 2025: Preparations have begun for this year’s Christmas and New Year celebrations in Lawngtlai, with plans to organize cultural and recreational events for the local community. Various activities and guidelines for festive celebrations were discussed and outlined at a meeting held at the DC Conference Hall, chaired by Mr. Donny Lalruatsanga, Lawngtlai Deputy Commissioner.

Mr. Lalruatsanga highlighted the importance of the celebrations being conducted in a safe and orderly manner. He emphasized that the government will issue necessary permits for events such as public gatherings, music programs, and other recreational activities to ensure proper management and public safety. The guidelines are intended to help residents celebrate joyfully while maintaining decorum. Special attention will be given to prevention of accidents and mismanagement, with government regulations to be strictly followed.

The Deputy Commissioner noted that various churches and community organizations have actively participated in planning and promoting the celebrations. This year, the festivities aim to provide safe enjoyment for residents, encouraging cultural engagement in a secure environment.

The meeting also addressed the “No Vehicle Day” initiative to facilitate smooth movement during the festive period. The event is planned for 19th December, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, across several areas including Lawngtlai-III, Mizoram Rural Bank, Chandmary near the DC Office, Council Veng Bazar Shed, and Patea Dawr in Lawngtlai Vengpui. During this time, motor vehicles will not be allowed on these roads. The Traffic Police, under the supervision of the YLA Bazar Branch, will manage and enforce the rules.

Additionally, “No Tolerance Day” will be observed with strict law enforcement, as coordinated by the Superintendent of Police, to maintain discipline during the celebrations.

Guidelines were also issued for proper conduct in residential areas, reminding residents to avoid unnecessary noise and disturbances. Extra care is expected in handling decorations and fireworks to prevent accidents, especially in congested neighborhoods.

The festive plan has been prepared with a focus on public safety, enjoyment, and orderly celebration. Sr. Superintendent of Police PC Lalchunglura confirmed that adequate police personnel will be deployed to oversee security and crowd management during the events. Residents are encouraged to participate in the festivities responsibly while adhering to all safety protocols.
