Home Minister Inaugurates Exhibition on New Criminal Laws
Aizawl, December 2025: The Ministry of Home Affairs, in collaboration with BNSS, BNS, and BSA, organized an “Exhibition on New Criminal Laws” at the Winter Festival in Lammual. The exhibition was inaugurated by Home Minister Pu K. Sapdanga.
The exhibition, jointly arranged by the Mizoram Police and Mizoram State Legal Services Authority, aims to raise public awareness about various new laws. Similar awareness initiatives have been previously conducted during the Hnahsin Kut, Champhai, and Leitlangpui Music Festival in Lunglei, with the active participation of the Mizoram Police, District Superintendents of Police, and District Legal Services Authorities.
The exhibition covers several important aspects of the new laws, including Zero FIR, e-FIR, victim compensation, and other legal provisions. Informational pamphlets and booklets were distributed to visitors to enhance their understanding of these laws. The Home Minister encouraged citizens to familiarize themselves with the legal framework and offered guidance on how the public could benefit from these provisions.
As part of the initiative, a Free Legal Aid Clinic was also set up for those seeking assistance in understanding or addressing legal matters under the new laws.
The inauguration was attended by Home Secretary Pu Vanlalmawia IAS, IGP (Headquarters) Pu Ramthlengliana IPS, DIG (Training) Pu C. Lalzahngoa IPS, SP Aizawl Pu Zosangliana IPS, officials from the Home Department, and various Mizoram Police officers.
The exhibition is part of the Mizoram Police’s ongoing efforts to engage with the public and promote legal awareness throughout the state.
