Social Welfare Minister Inaugurates Pangthianga Building at Operation Kingdom Ministry Home

Aizawl, December 2025: On the morning of December 16, Social Welfare Minister Pi Lalrinpuii inaugurated the “Pangthianga Building” at Operation Kingdom Ministry (OKM) Home, a rehabilitation centre and shelter for the homeless in Phunchawng. The event was attended by Social Welfare Joint Secretary Pi Zonunthari and Joint Director Pi Caroline Hmingthanzuali.

During the inauguration, Minister Lalrinpuii emphasized the importance of spreading joy during the Christmas season and highlighted the Home’s role in providing care and support for the underprivileged in Mizoram and beyond. She remarked that the centre serves as a model for compassion, helping residents experience God’s love and fostering hope among the disadvantaged.

The Minister also underscored the significance of skill development initiatives for the residents. She mentioned that through the Social Welfare Department’s Hand Holding Scheme, individuals at the Home would have opportunities to receive vocational training, enhancing their self-reliance and future prospects. She further noted that the Pangthianga Building would provide safe accommodation for children, ensuring proper facilities and responsible use of financial resources.

Minister Lalrinpuii praised OKM founder Pi Vanlalruati for her dedication and efforts in establishing the Home. She stated that the government is committed to supporting such initiatives and creating safe spaces for vulnerable communities. The Minister also acknowledged similar efforts by district administrations, social welfare agencies, and international organizations like the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Doctors Without Borders in supporting the welfare of disadvantaged groups in Mizoram.

She highlighted the importance of fostering spiritual well-being along with physical and educational support. Minister Lalrinpuii encouraged the residents to embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ, celebrating Christmas with gratitude, compassion, and hope for a better future. She also emphasized that the Home aims to provide holistic care, nurturing both faith and life skills among the residents.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Rev. K. Lalpiangthara, Chairman of the OKM Advisory Board. Additional Secretary Upa R. Lalnunthara oversaw the formal handover of the building, while Rev. Lalzuithanga conducted the building dedication. The donors, Lalengmawii Pachuau and family, were also acknowledged for their generous contribution to the project.

The event marked a significant milestone for Operation Kingdom Ministry Home, reinforcing its commitment to rehabilitation, skill development, and holistic care for the homeless and marginalized communities in Mizoram.
