Vijay Targets DMK, Declares TVK Ready for 2026 Battle
Chennai, Dec 2025 : TVK leader Vijay delivered a sharp and highly charged speech at a massive rally in Vijayamangalam near Erode on Thursday, launching a fierce attack on the ruling DMK and projecting his party as a credible alternative ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Speaking before thousands of supporters, Vijay described the political contest as a direct fight between the “corrupt and anti-people DMK” and what he termed the “pure, people-centric force called TVK”. He asserted that only TVK possessed the clarity, discipline and public support needed to remove the current government from power.
Vijay accused the DMK of deception and double standards, saying the ruling party “says one thing and does another”. He alleged that the government was constantly trying to hinder the growth of TVK. “The government is thinking 24 hours a day about how to silence Vijay and TVK. They keep claiming they are not afraid, but their actions show otherwise,” he told cheering crowds.
He further argued that the central political contest should not be viewed as a multi-cornered rivalry but as a single battle between the ruling establishment and TVK’s push for change. Setting the tone for his party’s strategy, Vijay said TVK would only “fight opponents who are actually in the field”. He made it clear that the party would take on real competitors on specific issues and not waste energy responding to external distractions.
Vijay shifted the tone of his speech to a personal note, speaking emotionally about his bond with the public. He said that his political journey grew out of the affection he received during his acting career. “I entered politics because of you. Never abandon this Vijay, who has abandoned everything else. Will you stand with me till the end? I will remain grateful for a lifetime,” he said, sparking loud applause.
He highlighted the legacy of social reformer Periyar, calling him a major influence on TVK’s principles. Vijay praised Periyar’s century-old advocacy for caste-based representation and stressed that Periyar, along with leaders like Anna and MGR, belonged not to a single party, but to all people of Tamil Nadu. He urged that these leaders’ names should not be used for political gain but honoured for their contribution to social progress.
The rally reflected TVK’s growing visibility and organisational strength. Supporters filled a sprawling 16-acre ground, waving yellow party flags and chanting slogans. Elaborate arrangements, including seating, security and logistics, indicated substantial ground-level preparation. Vijay arrived by chartered flight in Coimbatore and travelled by road to the event, receiving enthusiastic greetings from crowds lining the route.
Former AIADMK leader and now senior TVK member Sengottaiyan praised Vijay as a “revolutionary leader” and claimed he had sacrificed nearly Rs 500 crore in potential film earnings to dedicate himself to public service.
The scale of the turnout and the charged atmosphere marked TVK’s intent to build a strong base in western Tamil Nadu. The rally, one of the biggest since Vijay formed the party, signalled TVK’s ambition to take on the ruling DMK directly in 2026 — not just as another challenger, but as a force preparing for power.
