Delhi Adds 100 New Electric Buses; CM Smt. Rekha Gupta Flags Off Dhaula Kuan-Dharuhera E-Bus Service

Delhi Expands EV Bus Network to Strengthen Clean Public Transport

Electric Buses Take Centre Stage in Delhi’s Pollution Control Drive

New Delhi, December 2025 : The Delhi Government today took a major step towards clean and sustainable mobility in the Capital. Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta inaugurated 100 new electric buses into the DTC fleet at ISBT, Kashmere Gate, taking the total number of electric buses in operation across the city to over 3,500.

The Chief Minister also flagged off a new inter-state electric bus service connecting Dhaula Kuan in Delhi with Dharuhera in Haryana, in the presence of Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh and senior officials.

Smt. Rekha Gupta said that expanding and modernising public transport is key to reducing pollution, easing traffic congestion and strengthening last-mile connectivity. She said the Dhaula Kuan–Dharuhera electric bus service would improve regional connectivity while curbing dependence on private vehicles, especially along high-traffic corridors.

The Chief Minister stated that over the past ten months, the government has focused on reviving a transport system that had remained neglected for years. Several long-suspended inter-state bus services have been restored, along with bus services for universities.

Highlighting pollution control initiatives, she said that automated vehicle emission testing centres are being set up at Nand Nagri, Tehkhand and Burari to streamline Pollution Under Control (PUC) certification. She added that the Pink Card facility for women will be launched soon to ensure seamless travel across bus services. The government is also extending financial support for Phase IV of the Delhi Metro and for further strengthening the metro network.

Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government is committed to providing clean, reliable and affordable public transport. He said the fully electric Dhaula Kuan-Dharuhera service will benefit office-goers, students and industrial workers, especially those commuting to the Gurugram-Manesar industrial belt.

He added that reducing dependence on private vehicles will help lower traffic congestion and vehicular emissions, while also strengthening DTC’s inter-state operations. DTC has revived several discontinued routes in recent years and improved last-mile connectivity for commuters.

100 Electric Buses Added to DTC Fleet

The newly inducted low-floor, air-conditioned electric buses are equipped with CCTV cameras, panic buttons, real-time vehicle tracking systems and facilities for persons with disabilities. The expanded EV fleet will further strengthen Delhi’s clean and green public transport system and contribute significantly to reducing vehicular emissions and improving urban air quality.
