Sports Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar Hosts Celebration for Mizoram Cricket Team’s Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy Plate 2025 Victory

Aizawl, December 2025: A celebration was held at the rooftop of Hotel Floria to honor the Mizoram Cricket Team for winning the Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy Plate 2025. The event was hosted by Sports & Youth Services Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar.

The championship celebration was organized by the Cricket Association of Mizoram (CAM). Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar expressed his congratulations, and Pu Robert Lalfamkima, President of CAM, also delivered a speech. Reports on the event were presented by the Managers of the Senior Men’s Team and the Under-23 Team. Secretary of CAM, Pu Lalfakawma Varte, coordinated the event, with support from Pu Lalrothuama, and Pu R. Lalnunsiama, Treasurer of CAM, also participated in the felicitation ceremony.

Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar praised the Mizoram Cricket Team for their exemplary performance. He encouraged the players to continue striving for excellence, emphasizing that they must remain disciplined and determined to achieve even greater success. He also noted that the team’s achievements serve as inspiration for young aspiring cricketers in Mizoram, motivating them to pursue the sport with dedication. The minister further emphasized that the players’ conduct reflects well on their families, communities, churches, and the state of Mizoram.

The Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy is a national T20 cricket competition organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In the 2025-26 season, 38 teams participated, divided into Elite Groups (32 teams) and Plate Groups (6 teams). In the Plate Group, six teams from different regions competed, with Sikkim and Mizoram advancing to the final. In the final held in Pune, Mizoram defeated Sikkim by 10 runs to become the Plate Champions. Plate Champions gain the opportunity to compete in the Elite section in the following season, based on their ranking.

This victory also marked success for the Mizoram Men’s Under-23 Cricket Team, which finished as runner-up in the Under-23 category.
