BJP Working President Nitin Nabin to Visit Chennai, Focus on Organisational Drive Ahead of Elections

Chennai, Dec 2025 : Newly appointed BJP Working President Nitin Nabin is set to arrive in Chennai on December 20, marking his first visit to Tamil Nadu since taking office. Party insiders say the trip is driven by political strategy rather than ceremonial obligations.

Scheduled to land at Chennai airport around 10 a.m., Nabin’s visit is expected to signal a renewed organisational push in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry as the party prepares for the upcoming election cycle. Senior state functionaries have been asked to present detailed reports on booth-level activities, alliance trends, and cadre preparedness ahead of his arrival.

According to party sources, Nabin’s initial interaction at the airport will be brief but significant. The focus will be on evaluating the readiness of district units and reviewing the BJP’s ground presence, particularly in constituencies where the party sees potential for expansion. Discussions are likely to cover booth committees, communication campaigns, and strategies targeting urban and semi-urban voter segments.

After his Chennai consultations, Nabin will travel by road to Puducherry via Tindivanam, where he is expected to hold further closed-door meetings with local leaders and office-bearers. In Puducherry, where the BJP is part of the ruling coalition and enjoys a more tangible political presence, his focus is likely to be on regional narrative-building and alliance coordination.

Although the BJP has not released a full itinerary, senior functionaries emphasised that Nabin’s visit reflects the national leadership’s intent to adopt sharper, region-specific strategies. The party’s push to expand into Dravidian strongholds and its focus on organisational discipline are considered key priorities in the coming months.

“The visit is aimed at reviewing ground realities, not just exchanging greetings,” said a senior BJP leader, adding that micro-level preparedness will be assessed, especially in areas with electoral potential. Alliance dynamics, a crucial factor in Tamil Nadu politics, are also expected to feature prominently in discussions, potentially shaping early contours of partnership talks and messaging.

Overall, Nabin’s visit is being seen as a clear signal of heightened central attention to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry — regions where the BJP aims to strengthen organisational structure, refine election strategies, and craft narratives tailored to local political contexts.
