Gautam Adani Calls on Youth to Lead India’s AI Future

Ahmedabad, Dec 2025 : Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Sunday said that India is entering a decisive phase of transformation in which technology, talent and national purpose must move forward together. Addressing students, educators and industry representatives, he urged the younger generation to rise as leaders in the age of artificial intelligence, stressing that India must not remain a passive consumer of new technologies but emerge as a global builder of AI capabilities.

Gautam Adani was speaking at the inauguration of Vidya Pratishthan’s Sharad Pawar Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (CoE-AI) in Baramati, Maharashtra. In his address, he highlighted that India’s enduring strength has always come from its ability to align people, institutions and long-term vision. He said the same clarity of purpose is now required as the country navigates the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence.

Referring to concerns and anxieties surrounding AI, Adani said history offers reassurance. He noted that every major technological shift—from the industrial revolutions to India’s own digital transformation—has ultimately expanded human potential rather than diminished it. According to him, artificial intelligence represents the next step in this journey, with the power to place intelligence and productivity directly into the hands of ordinary citizens.

He emphasised that AI can open new pathways for young people from all backgrounds to participate in economic growth, innovation and nation-building. However, Adani cautioned that leadership in artificial intelligence cannot be outsourced. He warned that in a world where intelligence increasingly shapes economic power and national influence, over-dependence on foreign algorithms and platforms carries long-term risks.

“Data, decision-making and technological capability must remain anchored in national interest,” he said, stressing the need for India to build its own indigenous AI models, robust computing infrastructure and resilient intelligence ecosystems. Such capabilities, he added, are essential not only for economic security but also for cultural confidence and strategic independence.

Placing this vision in a broader context, Gautam Adani spoke about the growing role of the Adani Group in the global AI ecosystem. He said the diversified conglomerate is making significant investments in data centres, digital infrastructure and clean energy systems that can power large-scale computing. These efforts, he noted, are drawing sustained engagement from global technology leaders such as Google and Microsoft, as India positions itself as a serious hub for AI-driven growth.

The Sharad Pawar Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence has been established under the Baramati-based educational trust Vidya Pratishthan, with a contribution of Rs 25 crore made by Gautam Adani in 2023. The centre aims to promote advanced research, skill development and industry-oriented training in emerging technologies, with a special focus on artificial intelligence.

Those associated with the project said the centre will work on applying AI solutions across key sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, governance and industry. A strong emphasis will be placed on collaboration between academia, industry and policymakers to ensure that research and innovation translate into real-world impact.

Concluding his address, Adani said India’s future in artificial intelligence will depend on how boldly and responsibly the next generation chooses to lead. He urged young Indians to see AI not as a distant or intimidating force, but as a powerful tool to shape a more inclusive, secure and prosperous nation.

Team Maverick.
