BJP Secures Major Victory in Tripura Panchayat Elections
In the recent three-tier Panchayat elections held on August 8, the ruling BJP secured a commanding victory across multiple constituencies in Tripura. The BJP emerged as the dominant force, winning nearly all the wards and seats in the West Tripura district, with the only exceptions being one or two seats in the Dukli Rural Development Block, where the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) claimed victory. According to the State Election Commission (SEC), voter turnout reached 79.06 percent by 4 pm on polling day.
Dr. Vishal Kumar, the District Election Officer of West Tripura, announced that the results for all 17 Zilla Parishads, Panchayat Samitis, and Panchayat seats have been declared, with the BJP emerging as the clear winner. Dr. Kumar stated, “The election results have been announced, and in all 17 Zilla Parishads, Panchayat Samitis, and Panchayat seats in the West Tripura district, BJP candidates have won, except for one or two seats in the Dukli Rural Development Block, where the Tripa Motha Party secured a victory.”
In the Unakoti and North Tripura districts, counting is still underway, with final results expected soon. Reports suggest that in other districts, BJP candidates have secured large victories, with the exception of some areas in Ambassa district, where CPI(M) candidates have been successful.
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. ( Dr.) Manik Saha expressed confidence in the BJP’s success in the upcoming three-tier Panchayat elections, visiting the Mata Tripuri Temple to offer prayers on the final day of nomination submissions.
