Telangana Tourism Surges to Rs 22,324 Crore Investment, Set for Global Spotlight in 2026

Hyderabad, Dec 31, 2025 : Telangana’s tourism sector recorded a landmark year in 2025, securing investment commitments worth Rs 22,324 crore, positioning the state as a premier global destination, according to the Department of Tourism’s year-end review released on Wednesday.

The report highlighted a surge of capital inflow and significant infrastructure development, which have collectively elevated Telangana’s international tourism profile. The visionary “Telangana Tourism Policy 2025-2030” played a pivotal role in driving these investments, projected to generate around 90,000 new employment opportunities across the state.

A substantial portion of this growth was anchored by marquee events. The Tourism Conclave 2025 alone attracted 30 projects, drawing investments of Rs 15,279 crore, while the Telangana Rising Global Summit added another Rs 7,045 crore. Notably, high-profile international investors have committed to mega-projects spanning convention, cultural, and wellness sectors, reflecting global confidence in the state’s tourism potential.

2025 was also a year of unprecedented cultural milestones and worldwide visibility. Hyderabad hosted the Miss World 2025 pageant, showcasing the city’s modern infrastructure and its reputation as a “Safe and Friendly” destination to millions across the globe. Furthermore, Telangana achieved two Guinness World Records during the iconic Bathukamma festival, recording the tallest floral arrangement at 19.44 meters and the largest folk dance performance involving 1,354 women.

Safety and digital innovation remained central to the department’s achievements. The newly established 80-member Tourist Police has set a benchmark in visitor security, executing successful emergency rescues and property recovery at major heritage sites. On the digital front, initiatives such as the Unified Online Tourism Portal, GIS-based mapping, and Digital Travel Cards have streamlined cashless and hassle-free access to monuments.

Infrastructure development saw significant progress, with 78 of 123 state-initiated projects completed, alongside Rs 275 crore of central schemes including Swadesh Darshan 2.0 and PRASHAD. These include the Eco-Tourism Zone at Ananthagiri Hills and an Experiential Zone at Bhongir Fort. Water tourism also received a boost with the launch of the “Muchukunda,” a 120-seater double-deck boat at Hussain Sagar.

Looking ahead, the 2026 roadmap promises high-tech engagement and niche tourism initiatives. Key projects include the operationalisation of a Heli-Tourism circuit connecting Hyderabad, Somasila, and Srisailam, and the development of premium wedding destinations at Nagarjuna Sagar, Baswapur, and Somasila to capture the global destination wedding market.

The state will commence 2026 with a series of international events, including the International Kite and Sweet Festival featuring participants from 19 countries, a Hot Air Balloon Festival with European flyers, and a high-tech Drone Show at Gachibowli Stadium, reaffirming Telangana’s ambition to become a leading global tourism hub.
