Governor Sows Jowar Using Traditional Seed Drill at Samrat Raut’s Farm in Khoripada
Nashik, Jan 2026 : It was a moment of joy for Samrat Raut, an ideal farmer from Khoripada village in Dindori taluka, as Governor Acharya Devvrat paid a surprise visit to his farm on Thursday morning. Adding to the special occasion, the Governor personally sowed jowar using a traditional seed drill (tifan), symbolically reflecting his deep connect with agriculture and farmers.
While interacting with other farmers, the Governor discussed various farming practices and urged them to adopt natural farming methods. The happiness and enthusiasm among farmers were clearly visible during his visit. Expressing his feelings, Acharya Devvrat said he was deeply moved by the warmth, affection and hospitality extended to him by villagers during his Nashik district tour.
The Governor, who is himself a farmer and owns several indigenous cows, said he practises natural farming in its entirety and finds it profitable. He encouraged farmers to shift towards natural farming for sustainable and cost-effective agriculture. On the occasion, the Raut family honoured the Governor by presenting him with a unique gift comprising produce grown through natural farming. To make the visit memorable, a traditional tribal musical instrument, the Pavri, was also presented to him.
Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Zirwal, MP Bhaskar Bhagare, Divisional Commissioner Dr Praveen Gedam, Governor’s Secretary Prashant Naranware, District Collector Ayush Prasad, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Omkar Pawar, District Superintendent Agriculture Officer Ravindra Mane, ATMA Project Director Abhimanyu Kashid and other officials were present during the visit.
Special Hospitality by the Raut Family
The Raut family offered the Governor traditional rural delicacies, including nagali (ragi) porridge and rice dhirde, as part of their hospitality. Acharya Devvrat relished the dishes and expressed his appreciation for their taste. Displaying warmth and familial affection, he interacted cordially with family members and enquired about their well-being.
The Governor also inspected the cattle shed, planted saplings along the farm boundary and visited a stall set up by the Animal Husbandry Department. The traditional tribal welcome, including aukshan (ritualistic welcome), was graciously accepted by the Governor, making it a memorable experience for the farmers present.
Governor Acharya Devvrat also praised the various innovative initiatives undertaken by Samrat Raut, which brought great joy to the family members. A large number of farmers and villagers from the surrounding areas were present during the visit, making the occasion truly special.
