Yogi government to build sprawling Media Center in Maha Kumbh Mela area

Lucknow : With the Yogi government intensifying preparations for the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, efforts are focused on completing essential city projects and enhancing the Mela area’s facilities. In alignment with Chief Minister Yogi’s vision, work has begun to build a sprawling and state-of-the-art Media Center spanning 4,800 square meters within the Mela grounds.

This Media Center will be equipped with world-class facilities to accommodate journalists and media institutions from across the globe. Its round-the-clock operation throughout the event underscores the government’s commitment to providing continuous coverage.

Preparations are underway for constructing a tent city for the stay of devotees, food stalls, 30 grand religious-themed gates, and a Sanskriti Gram for devotees.

The proposed 22 feet tall Media Center will be built using advanced engineered aluminum German hangar technology. It will feature a variety of facilities, including a workstation area with over 500 seats, a VIP lounge, a studio, a conference area, a grand entrance and exit gate, a thematic facade, a pantry, a storage room, a specialized security room, branding space, and audio-visual, editing, and control rooms.

The center will be attractively decorated to reflect the state’s cultural heritage while highlighting the Maha Kumbh. High-speed internet and Wi-Fi will be provided to facilitate live feeds and uploads. The centre is scheduled to operate from January 10 to February 26, with the potential for an extension as needed.

Uniformed housekeeping and security staff will be assigned to the Media Center and the fair area. The total cost for this project is estimated at Rs 5 crore.

The Media Center will feature a range of advanced facilities. This includes soundproofing the press briefing area, installing sofa lounges in the VIP lounge, setting up a stage with chairs and tables, and creating an information counter designed as a pagoda.

The hangar will be constructed to be water—and fire-proof and capable of withstanding stormy winds up to 100 km/h. It will have a seating capacity for 500 journalists and accommodate over 1,000 people overall, maintaining high hygiene standards throughout.
