Security Tightened Ahead of BJP’s Concluding Rally in Tamil Nadu

Chennai, Jan 2026 : Security arrangements have been significantly stepped up across Pudukkottai district ahead of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) concluding public rally in Tamil Nadu, scheduled to be held on Sunday evening. The high-profile event marks the final leg of the party’s statewide political campaign and is expected to witness a large turnout of party workers, supporters and local residents.

The rally, to be led by Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran, will take place at 5 p.m. at the Pallathivayal area near Balan Nagar in Tirukokarnam, Pudukkottai. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to attend the programme and address the gathering, making the event one of the most significant political meetings held by the party in the state in recent months.

In view of the presence of senior leaders and the anticipated crowd, the police have enforced stringent preventive measures to ensure law and order. A complete ban has been imposed on the operation of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in and around the rally venue for the entire day. Officials said the restriction has been introduced purely as a precautionary step to prevent any potential security threats or untoward incidents during the public meeting.

Police authorities have issued a clear warning that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the drone ban. Senior officers are personally overseeing the security arrangements, while multiple agencies are coordinating to ensure comprehensive coverage. Multi-layered security has been put in place at the venue, with several frisking and screening points established along all entry routes leading to the rally grounds.

Barricades have been erected at strategic locations to regulate crowd movement and prevent overcrowding. Surveillance teams, including plainclothes personnel, have been deployed in and around the venue to closely monitor the situation. Additional police forces have also been stationed along major roads and junctions in Pudukkottai town and surrounding areas to manage traffic and ensure smooth vehicular movement during the rally hours.

According to officials, special traffic arrangements have been drawn up to minimise inconvenience to the general public. Motorists have been advised to expect diversions on certain routes near the venue and to plan their travel accordingly. Signage and traffic personnel have been deployed to guide commuters and prevent congestion.

The concluding rally is seen by the BJP leadership as a crucial platform to energise party cadres, consolidate organisational strength and convey key political messages ahead of the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Several senior state and district-level leaders are expected to share the stage with the Union Home Minister, underlining the importance the party is placing on the event.

Police officials have appealed to the public to cooperate with the security arrangements and adhere to the restrictions imposed in the interest of public safety. Authorities said all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the peaceful, safe and orderly conduct of the rally, while safeguarding both participants and local residents during the high-profile political gathering.
