Approval of over ₹2,598 crore for Irrigation Projects in Burhanpur District

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav chaired the Cabinet meeting held at the Mantralaya on Tuesday. The Cabinet accorded administrative approval of ₹922.91 crore for the Jhirmiti Medium Irrigation Project in Khaknar tehsil of Burhanpur district. The project will provide irrigation to 17,700 hectares of land across 42 villages in Khaknar tehsil, benefiting around 11,800 farming families.

The Cabinet also granted administrative approval of ₹1,676.06 crore for the Navatha Major Irrigation Project in the Nepanagar tehsil of Burhanpur district. The project is expected to provide irrigation to 34,100 hectares of land across 90 villages in Khaknar tehsil and benefit approximately 22,600 farming families.

Approval for Continuation of PM Janman Scheme

The Cabinet approved the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM Janman) scheme of the Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority for the period April 1, 2026, to  March 31, 2028, with an estimated outlay of ₹795.45 crore. Under the scheme, 1,039 km of roads and 112 bridges will be constructed. The scheme will be implemented in 22 districts for three Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups, Baiga, Bharia, and Saharia.

Approval for Continuation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana

The Cabinet approved the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) of the Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority for the period 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031, with an estimated expenditure of ₹17,196.21 crore. The scheme envisages the construction of 20,000 km of roads and 1,200 bridges.

Approval for Renovation and Upgradation of Rural Roads

Approval was also granted for the renovation and upgradation of roads constructed under PMGSY for the period 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031, with an estimated cost of ₹10,196.42 crore. Under this component, 88,517 km of rural roads will be renovated and upgraded.

Approval to finance irrigation projects through Narmada Basin projects company limited

The Cabinet approved financing of irrigation projects under the Narmada Valley Development Authority for expeditious implementation through the Narmada Basin Projects Company Limited (NBPCL).

As per the approval, projects initiated by the Narmada Valley Development Authority and completed through financial arrangements made by NBPCL will vest full ownership with NBPCL. An amount equivalent to the expenditure incurred by the State Government through budgetary provisions will be issued to the State Government by the company in the form of equity. Upon completion, revenue generated from these projects will be treated as the company’s income.

At present, two projects are being financed by NBPCL: Narmada–Kshipra Multi-purpose Project with a cost of ₹2,489.65 crore and Badnawar Micro Lift Irrigation Project with a cost of ₹1,520.92 crore

During the meeting, tablets were provided to Cabinet Members and their secretaries for the e-Cabinet system. Training was also imparted for its effective use.
