Deliberations on Livestock Rearing Opportunities and Programmes in Eastern Vidarbha
Nagpur, January 2026 : The Government has designated the year 2026 as the International Year of Pastoralists and Rangelands. On this occasion, a deliberation meeting on livestock rearing opportunities and programmes in Eastern Vidarbha was held today at the Divisional Commissioner’s Office under the chairpersonship of Divisional Commissioner Ms. Vijayalakshmi Bidari, as part of the MahaSTRIDE project.
A detailed presentation was made on the livestock development opportunities and programmes in Eastern Vidarbha, followed by in-depth discussions on the subject. In order to achieve Maharashtra’s goal of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy, the Maharashtra Institute for Transformation (MITRA), in collaboration with the World Bank, has undertaken the ambitious MahaSTRIDE project to strengthen institutional capacities for comprehensive district-level development. Through this initiative, emphasis will be placed on enhancing institutional capacity at the district level across the state to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
Present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner (Planning) Mr. Anil Gotmare, Director (Research), MAFSU Dr. Nitin Kurkure, Nagpur Divisional Co-Commissioner of the Animal Husbandry Department Mr. Satish Raju, District Deputy Commissioner for Animal Husbandry Dr. Nitin Phuke, Mr. Sajal Kulkarni from the Centre for People’s Collective, along with senior officers from the concerned departments.
