Rajasthan Presents Developmental and Financial Priorities Ahead of Union Budget 2026-27

Jaipur, January 2026: Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari presented the state’s key developmental needs and financial priorities before the Union Budget 2026-27 during a pre-budget consultation meeting with the Central Government.

The meeting was held in New Delhi on Saturday under the chairmanship of Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman. Diya Kumari emphasized that the state government is fully committed to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of Developed India-2047 and the goal of a $5 trillion economy, actively participating in achieving this national objective.

She urged the Center to prioritize critical projects in the water resources sector, requesting that the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project be declared a national priority with a provision of ₹5,000 crore, and that the Yamuna Water Conveyance Project for the Shekhawati region be included as a national project with a ₹200 crore allocation.

Considering the extensive potential for micro-irrigation in the state, she requested ₹900 crore in central assistance under the Per Drop More Crop Scheme. In the energy sector, she emphasized the need for transmission projects, grid stability, battery energy storage, additional targets under the KUSUM Scheme, and restructuring of high-interest loans of state utilities.

In the road infrastructure sector, Diya Kumari requested the notification of 50 proposed national highways announced in 2018 and Viability Gap Funding (VGF) support for greenfield expressway projects. She also requested an extension of the Amrit 2.0 Mission until March 2028.

In the health sector, she proposed the establishment of AIIMS in Jaipur and an extension of the PM-ABHIM Scheme. Highlighting tourism as a key driver of economic growth, she requested budgetary support for heritage tourism circuits, international promotion, and improved air connectivity.

She further urged the Center to continue financial support for contractual employees under the National Health Mission and Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, even after their regularization, covering salaries and establishment expenses.

To strengthen capital expenditure under the SASCI Scheme, she requested doubling Part-1 untied fund allocation and extending timelines for Part-2 projects. She also requested an increase in financial credit limits to ensure liquidity management after implementing SNA-SPARSH.

Concluding the meeting, Diya Kumari expressed confidence that the upcoming Union Budget would accelerate inclusive economic growth and reaffirmed that the Rajasthan government would continue to work closely with the Central Government to achieve the Developed India-2047 goal.
