AAP Protests Against BJP Over Fake Videos and Alleged Insult to Sikh Gurus
Chandigarh, January 2026 : Politics has heated up over allegations of fake videos being posted on social media by Kapil Mishra and the deliberate insult of Sikh Gurus. Following the registration of an FIR in the matter, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has made it clear that those who disrespect the Gurus will not be spared.

In Punjab, AAP workers laid siege to the residences of BJP’s state working president Ashwani Sharma and Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal. The party alleged that fake videos were posted on social media by these leaders, which amounted to an insult to Sikh Gurus and hurt religious sentiments.
In Delhi, AAP legislators and leaders, led by Delhi state president Saurabh Bharadwaj, reached Rajghat and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Addressing the gathering, Bharadwaj said he prayed that Mahatma Gandhi bless those indulging in lies, hatred and fake-video politics with wisdom. AAP asserted that politics should be a medium of service and truth, not a tool to hurt religious sentiments.
On the same issue, the Aam Aadmi Party staged simultaneous and strong protests at four different locations across Punjab on Saturday. AAP leaders and workers surrounded the residences of senior leaders from the BJP, Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal to give voice to public anger.

The first protest in Punjab was held outside the residence of BJP working president Ashwani Sharma, where thousands of AAP workers and leaders gathered. The demonstration was led by constituency in-charge Amit Singh Manto. Protesters accused the BJP of repeatedly playing with Sikh sentiments and pursuing divisive politics.
The second protest took place outside the residence of Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, where AAP workers raised strong slogans under the leadership of district president Jashan Brar. AAP alleged that the party which claims to represent Panthic interests is itself damaging the honour of Sikh Gurus through tactics such as fake videos.
The third protest targeted Congress leader Pargat Singh, as AAP workers laid siege to his residence. The protest was led by Punjab cabinet minister Mohinder Bhagat, who said that both the Congress and the BJP have, time and again, used religion as a political weapon.
The fourth protest was held outside the residence of Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira. The demonstration was led by constituency in-charge Sajjan Singh Cheema. Protesters alleged that attempts were being made to tarnish the image of Sikh Gurus through fake videos and false accusations.
AAP stated unequivocally that the message of Sri Guru Sahib is one of truth, equality and brotherhood, and the party takes pride in the Gurus’ legacy that has shown the path of unity to society. In contrast, AAP alleged that the BJP, Congress and the Akali Dal have repeatedly misused religious sentiments for narrow political gains. Party leaders also pointed out that the Jalandhar Police has already registered an FIR against the fake videos, which, they said, proves that truth is on AAP’s side.
AAP maintained that this fight is not about power or politics, but about protecting the honour of the Gurus and the soul of Punjab. The party said the people of Punjab are watching everything closely and will respond to the politics of lies and deception at the appropriate time.
