“The Nation Progresses Because of the Army; Proud to Be a Soldier’s Daughter” – Diya Kumari Flags Off 7,800 km Solo Cycling Campaign on 78th Army Day

Jaipur, January 2026: On the occasion of the 78th Army Day, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari visited the ‘Know Your Army’ exhibition held at the Bhawani Niketan Education Society campus on Sunday. The exhibition showcased modern equipment and weapons used by the Indian Army.

Diya Kumari said that it is a matter of pride for all Rajasthan residents that, for the first time in the country, an Army Day parade is being held outside a cantonment area in Jaipur. She emphasized that such events symbolize the strong bond between the Army and the citizens.

Becoming emotional, Diya Kumari highlighted that she comes from an Army family. Her father served in the Indian Army and held leadership roles during wartime. She said, “Today I am present not just as the Deputy Chief Minister but as a member of an Army family. I am proud to be a soldier’s daughter. The bravery and sacrifices of the Army inspire every citizen.”

She expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, and the Army for organizing the Army Day in Jaipur. She further stated that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the Indian Army has been the reason behind the country’s continuous progress. “In defense, India is on par with any nation in the world. Over the past 50 years, modernization of the Army has enabled us to respond effectively to any adversary,” she added.

During the event, Diya Kumari welcomed Colonel Sophia, who played a key role as a speaker during Operation Sindoor, stating that her leadership has made all women proud. She thanked senior Army officials and soldiers, noting that the citizens can live in peace thanks to their protection of the nation’s borders.

The exhibition displayed modern weapons, artillery, and military resources used during Operation Sindoor, including rifles, ballistic missile systems, self-propelled guns, tanks, bunkers, drones, and anti-drone systems. Additionally, mechanized forces, paragliding, skydiving, dog squads, and other activities were demonstrated, while the Army Symphony Band performed patriotic pieces.

A special Army unit conducted a live anti-terrorist hostage rescue demonstration, including a helicopter-based operation, captivating the audience. The heroic live demos and high-tech displays mesmerized attendees.

On the occasion, Diya Kumari flagged off a 7,800 km solo cycling campaign for Army Day. She also presented cyclist Asha Malviya with a ₹78,000 honorarium as a token of recognition.

The event provided youth with detailed information about Army recruitment, careers, and training. A large number of students and citizens participated, with the aim of connecting the public with the life, work, and sacrifices of the Army while inspiring patriotism among the youth.

The grand program was attended by South-Western Command Army Commander Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Colonel Sophia Quraishi, senior Army officials, soldiers, NCC cadets, and a large gathering of dignitaries and citizens.
