The pending projects in Ichalkaranji city should be completed immediately, with the water supply project given top priority – Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar
Mumbai : The population of Ichalkaranji city is rapidly increasing, placing a strain on the city’s infrastructure. The proposed schemes for the city should be implemented immediately to provide relief to the residents. Additionally, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has directed that the city’s water supply project be prioritized to address the drinking water issues faced by the people of Ichalkaranji.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in his committee room at the Ministry to discuss various issues concerning Ichalkaranji (Kolhapur district). Present at the meeting were Minister of Medical Education and Guardian Minister of Kolhapur Hasan Mushrif, Textile Minister Chandrakant Patil, MLA Prakash Awade, former MLA Asif Sheikh Rashid Sheikh, Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning Department Dr. Rajagopal Deora, Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department O. P. Gupta, Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department Asim Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary of the Water Supply Department Sanjay Khandare, and Secretary of the Textiles Department Virendra Singh. The meeting was also attended by Kolhapur Collector Amol Yedge, Commissioner of Ichalkaranji Municipal Corporation Omprakash Divte, and other dignitaries including Vitthalrao Chopde, Chandrakant Patil of the Ichalkaranji Yantra Maghadhar Action Committee, and representatives from various local organizations.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar further stated that necessary action should be taken to cancel the punitive tax on the income holders in Ichalkaranji town. All technical aspects should be reviewed to consider an amnesty program similar to that of Pimpri-Chinchwad city. A detailed proposal should be prepared and submitted in the upcoming cabinet meeting. Necessary steps should also be taken to rehabilitate the slum dwellers in Ichalkaranji at their current locations. Additionally, the issues faced by loom holders in Ichalkaranji should be resolved promptly. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar instructed that necessary actions be taken to restore the five percent interest concession on loans for rising (warping) industries, as was previously granted.
