Major Announcements by Chief Minister in Kharora; CM Trophy All India Football Championship Concludes Grandly
Kharora, Jan 2026: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai made several important announcements for the local residents at the grand closing ceremony of the CM Trophy All India Football Championship held today in Kharora, Raipur district. The Chief Minister announced speeding up the construction of the Samoda Barrage, as well as the construction of a bypass road and a Gaurav Path in Kharora.
Expressing his happiness at attending the fifth edition of the CM Trophy organised by the Johar Sangwari Football Association, Chief Minister Sai said it was a matter of pride that a national-level sporting event was being held in a place like Kharora. Such events, he noted, provide valuable opportunities for local talent to progress. He welcomed teams from various states across the country and congratulated the Ramakrishna Mission team from Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh, for emerging as champions.
The Ramakrishna Mission, Narayanpur team clinched the title after defeating 16 teams from nine states. The Chief Minister praised the Ramakrishna Mission for its commendable work in social, educational and sports development, especially in remote and Naxal-affected areas. He also extended his best wishes to the PFC Kerala team, which finished as the runner-up in the final, encouraging them to continue practising with dedication.
In his address, Chief Minister Sai said that development works worth nearly Rs 400 crore have been carried out in the Dharsiwa Assembly constituency over the past two years. He appreciated the active efforts of MLA Shri Anuj Sharma in this regard. Reiterating the state government’s commitment to the overall development of sports, the Chief Minister said that the long-discontinued sports awards ceremony was restarted soon after the formation of the government. Efforts are being made to nurture sports talent from village to village, and sports grounds are being constructed as required under the Khelo India scheme.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the Bastar Olympics was launched last year and that the number of participants has doubled within two years. He added that international cricket matches are being organised regularly in the state, and discussions are underway to host two IPL matches in Chhattisgarh.
Addressing the programme, Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma congratulated both the winning and runner-up teams. He said that teams which could not win this time should not be disappointed, as success is achieved through continuous hard work and dedication. He expressed gratitude for the development and public welfare initiatives undertaken by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai over the past two years, and said that under his leadership, there is a collective resolve to place Chhattisgarh among the leading states of the country.
MLA Shri Anuj Sharma, in his address, said this was the fifth edition of the CM Trophy and announced that the tournament would now be organised permanently in the name of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. He stated that under the Chief Minister’s leadership, Chhattisgarh has become the fastest state in the country to implement its election manifesto. The resumption of sports awards, the Bastar Olympics, and the regular hosting of international matches at the international cricket stadium are clear examples of this progress.
At the event, the winning players were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with the CM Trophy. Other players were also honoured. Several public representatives, distinguished citizens and a large number of spectators were present on the occasion.
