BJP Announces Schedule for Election of New National President
New Delhi, Jan 2026 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday formally announced the schedule for the election of its next national president, marking a key milestone in the party’s ongoing organisational exercise under Sangathan Parv 2024. The announcement was made through an official statement issued by Rajya Sabha MP and BJP National Election In-charge Dr K. Laxman, who detailed the timeline and procedures for the internal poll.
According to Dr Laxman, the electoral roll for the presidential election will be published on Friday, setting the stage for the formal election process. The filing of nominations has been scheduled for January 19, during a two-hour window from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on the same day between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., ensuring compliance with organisational rules and procedures. Following scrutiny, candidates will have the opportunity to withdraw their nominations between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Dr Laxman added that a formal press communique will be issued at 6.30 p.m. on January 19, once the withdrawal process is completed.
The BJP has announced that the name of its new national president will be officially declared on January 20, between 11.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m., at the party headquarters in the national capital. The announcement is expected to draw significant attention, as it comes at a time when the party is focusing on organisational consolidation ahead of upcoming political challenges.
BJP’s working president Nitin Nabin is widely expected to take over as the next national president, with his elevation likely to be formally announced on January 20. Nabin is a five-time member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and has previously served as a minister in the Bihar government. He is known within the party for his strong organisational skills and administrative experience.
Over the years, Nabin has held several important organisational positions at both the national and state levels. He has also been entrusted with key responsibilities in states such as Sikkim and Chhattisgarh, contributing to the party’s organisational expansion and strengthening.
Appointed as BJP’s working president on December 14, Nitin Nabin is now set to formally assume the role of national president, marking a significant transition in the party’s leadership as Sangathan Parv 2024 progresses.
