Shiv Sena Holds Three-Day Workshop for Newly Elected BMC Corporators

Mumbai, Jan 2026 : Shiv Sena has organised a three-day intensive workshop for the 29 corporators elected to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), aimed at equipping them with the knowledge and guidance needed to deliver on the party’s development agenda. The session is being personally overseen by Shiv Sena chief and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who will provide detailed guidance on BMC functioning, city development plans, election manifesto implementation, and roadmap preparation for the next five years.

The workshop, being held at a five-star hotel in Mumbai, was confirmed by Yuva Sena General Secretary and corporator Amey Ghole. Over the next three days, senior party leaders will also conduct sessions to familiarize corporators with the administrative processes and effective governance practices in their respective wards.

“Deputy Chief Minister Shinde instructed corporators to commence work immediately to uphold the public’s trust in Shiv Sena. Accordingly, they attended the guidance camp the very next day after the election results were announced,” Ghole said.

In addition to administrative training, the workshop will also include discussions on strategies and campaign planning for the upcoming Zilla Parishad elections. Shinde and senior leaders will personally brief the corporators, ensuring that the team is aligned on priorities and governance objectives.

Addressing the question of the mayoral post, Ghole stated that the Mayor of Mumbai will be from the Mahayuti alliance, and senior leaders of allied parties will decide on the nomination.

Shiv Sena has secured a total of 397 corporator seats in municipal corporation elections across Maharashtra, demonstrating widespread public support for the party. This includes 29 in Mumbai, 75 in Thane, 54 in Kalyan-Dombivli, 42 in Navi Mumbai, 36 in Ulhasnagar, 26 in Nashik, 22 in Jalgaon, 15 in Kolhapur, 13 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and 12 in Jalna. Ghole said the results reflect the people’s faith in Shiv Sena and Deputy Chief Minister Shinde’s leadership.

The party issued a statement in response to media reports about moving the 29 newly elected corporators to a five-star hotel, clarifying that this precautionary step was intended to prevent any poaching attempts, especially with the mayoral election approaching.

Currently, BJP holds 89 seats and Shiv Sena 29 in the 227-member BMC, crossing the halfway mark of 114. Shiv Sena emphasised that keeping its corporators together was a strategic move to safeguard its elected representatives and ensure cohesion during the crucial period leading up to the mayoral election.
