Young IPS Officers Deployed to Boost Law and Order, Ease Traffic in Greater Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Jan 2025 : In a move aimed at strengthening law and order and addressing pressing civic challenges, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has posted a new set of young and dynamic Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to key positions across Greater Hyderabad, with a special focus on traffic management.

Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) B. Shivadhar Reddy said on Sunday that the transfers carried out on Saturday were part of the government’s broader priority to improve civic governance and find long-term, sustainable solutions to the city’s growing traffic congestion. He said the reshuffle was designed to ensure effective implementation of traffic regulation and enforcement at the ground level.

According to the DGP, officers with strong field experience and proven performance as Additional Superintendents of Police (SPs) in districts have been entrusted with crucial traffic responsibilities in urban commissionerates. The aim is to bring fresh energy and operational efficiency to traffic policing in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates, as well as the newly formed Future City Police Commissionerate.

Soon after assuming office, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had issued firm directions to crack down on cybercrime and drug trafficking across the state. While these initiatives continue to receive focused attention, the government has now turned its attention to improving traffic regulation, enforcement and commuter safety in the Greater Hyderabad region, the DGP said.

As part of the reshuffle, Avinash Kumar, who earlier served as Additional SP (Operations) in Kothagudem, has been posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Traffic-I, Hyderabad, covering the Khairatabad and Secunderabad zones. Kajal, formerly Additional SP in Utnoor, has been appointed as DCP, Traffic-II, Hyderabad, with responsibility for the Golconda and Jubilee Hills zones.

S. Seshadrini Reddy, who was serving as Additional SP in Jagtial, has been posted as DCP, Traffic-II, Cyberabad, overseeing traffic management in the Kukatpally and Quthbullapur zones. Kankanala Rahul Reddy, formerly Additional SP in Bhongir, has been assigned as DCP, Traffic-I, Malkajgiri Commissionerate.

In another key posting, Shivam Upadhyay, Additional SP (Operations) in Mulugu, has been appointed as DCP (Traffic) in the Future City Police Commissionerate. G. Chandana Deepti, DIG (Railways), has been posted as Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration and Traffic), Future City Commissionerate.

Meanwhile, B.K. Rahul Hegde has been transferred as DCP, Traffic-III, Future City Commissionerate, covering the Charminar, Rajendranagar and Shamshabad zones, while G. Ranjan Ratan Kumar has been posted as DCP, Traffic-I, Future City Commissionerate, with charge of the Serilingampally zone.

Additionally, Abhishek Mohanty has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General, Vigilance and Enforcement, with a mandate to curb illegal activities such as sand smuggling, protect natural resources and safeguard government revenue across Telangana.
