Art & Culture Minister Releases Mizo Chiefs’ Council Souvenir

Aizawl, Jan 2026: Art & Culture Minister Pu C. Lalsawivunga released the Mizo Chiefs’ Council Souvenir 1946–2025 at the I&PR Auditorium, Treasury Square, during a ceremony organized by the Mizo Chiefs’ Council. The souvenir was officially unveiled at the event.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Lalsawivunga noted that the Mizo Chiefs’ Council has consistently played a vital role in preserving the customs and traditions of the Mizo people. The souvenir reflects the rich history and contributions of the council since its inception. He emphasized that the council has been instrumental in safeguarding Mizo identity, promoting social cohesion, and guiding the community in matters of governance, justice, and cultural preservation.

The Minister highlighted that the council’s efforts have been crucial in instilling awareness of traditional values and governance among the Mizo people. By documenting this journey in the souvenir, future generations can appreciate the council’s contribution to the social and cultural development of Mizoram.

The Mizo Chiefs’ Council has been an integral institution for the Mizo community since 1946, established to guide the people in leadership, justice, and community matters. Its headquarters is located in Aizawl, with sub-headquarters in eight major districts.

The souvenir launch event was presided over by Rev. Mangchhuana Sailo, President of the Mizo Chiefs’ Council, who spoke on the council’s achievements and legacy. Er Lalnunmawia Sailo, the souvenir editor, presented the “Souvenir Report.” Pu S. Lianlula, Vice President of the Council, detailed the council’s history, while Pu Lalzarliana Sailo, Treasurer of MCC, delivered the vote of thanks.
