Mizoram Team Emerges Champion at IndiaSkills Northeast Regional Competition

Aizawl, January 2026:The Mizoram team emerged as the overall champion at the IndiaSkills Northeast Regional Competition 2025–26, organised by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, after an impressive performance at Guwahati University. The team secured 9 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, and 6 Medallions for Excellence, topping the medal tally among all northeastern states.

The Regional Skill Competition was held from January 19 to 22, 2026, at Guwahati University. A total of 26 different trades were contested during the event. The Mizoram team participated in 20 trades and achieved outstanding success, marking a major milestone for the state.

The competition serves as a platform to assess and showcase the technical skills and craftsmanship of participants from different northeastern states. The remarkable achievement of the Mizoram team highlights that the skills and competencies of Mizoram’s youth are not only competitive within the Northeast but also stand strong at the national level.

The Mizoram representatives were selected through the Mizoram Skills Competition, organised by the LESDE Department from December 8 to 12, 2025. Winners who secured gold and silver medals at the Northeast Regional Skills Competition will represent the Northeast Region at the IndiaSkills National Competition. Based on their performance at the national level, selected candidates may go on to represent India at the WorldSkills Competition and the Asian Skills Competition.

The Mizoram team won gold medals in Electronics, Fashion Technology, Floristry, Hairdressing, Hotel Reception, Painting and Decorating, Restaurant Service, Retail Sales, and Visual Merchandising. Silver medals were secured in Floristry, Mobile Application Development, and Software Application Development. Bronze medals were won in Bakery, Restaurant Service, and Software Application Development. Additionally, Medallions for Excellence were awarded in Cooking, Beauty Therapy, Electronics, Graphic Design Technology, Painting, and Hairdressing.
