Mumbai, Sep 2026 : The love, affection, sacrifice and nurturing spirit of motherhood will be brought alive through stories, poems, anecdotes and soulful songs at a special musical programme titled ‘Aai’, organised by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Mumbai, under the Maharashtra Government’s Department of Cultural Affairs.
The special programme will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 8 pm at Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Natyagruha in Vile Parle (East), Mumbai.
The programme will take audiences on an emotional journey exploring the love, care, sacrifices, struggles and affection associated with the relationship between a mother and her child. Through a combination of stories, poetry, anecdotes and songs, the event will portray the many emotional dimensions of motherhood and present the bond in an artistic and sensitive manner.
Singers Archana Gore, Priti Joshi, Chaitral Potdar, Dr Jay Ajgaonkar, Dnyanesh Pendharkar and Raj Thakurdessai will present different facets of a mother’s love through their musical performances.
The concept, writing and narration for the programme have been undertaken by Anil Hardikar, while Nivedita Saraf will participate as co-narrator. The musical arrangements have been handled by Satyajit Prabhu.
Memories of mothers, the warmth of their affection, their place in people’s lives and the sacrifices through which they help shape personalities will form the central themes of the programme. The organisers said the event is intended to be more than a musical presentation and will provide an emotional experience that revives cherished memories of mothers among audiences.
Motherhood is among the most intimate and emotionally significant relationships in a person’s life. Through ‘Aai’, an attempt is being made to pay tribute to a mother’s affection, sacrifice, love and values through words and music. The programme will bring together literature and music in a manner that is expected to appeal to audiences across generations while sensitively portraying the diverse emotional dimensions of motherhood.
The initiative is being organised under the vision of Advocate Ashish Shelar, Minister for Cultural Affairs, Electronics, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence Development, and under the guidance of Dr Kiran Kulkarni, Secretary, Department of Cultural Affairs.
The Directorate of Cultural Affairs has been conducting various cultural initiatives to take the values of love, affection, sacrifice and upbringing associated with motherhood to audiences through music, literature, stories and poetry, while also encouraging quality musical and literary performances.
Free entry passes for the programme will be available at Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Natyagruha from Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
Director of the Directorate of Cultural Affairs Prashant Khedekar has appealed to art and culture enthusiasts to collect their passes in advance and attend the programme at 8 pm on September 10 to experience the special musical tribute to motherhood.
