Special felicitation programmes to be held across all 70 Assembly constituencies, 25,000 invitations being sent out
New Delhi, September 2026 : As part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, launched on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the Delhi Government is set to organise a special programme, ‘Aangan Ka Milan’, to honour the contribution of its Anganwadi workers. Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta said that Anganwadi workers play a crucial role at the grassroots level in taking government services to children, women and families. Their dedication and contribution deserve to be recognised, and honouring them is the government’s responsibility, she said. The Delhi Government is also considering an increase in the honorarium of Anganwadi workers so that their contribution and responsibilities receive due recognition.
The Chief Minister said that programmes to honour Anganwadi workers will be organised across all 70 Assembly constituencies of Delhi from September 23. A large number of Anganwadi workers, beneficiaries, children, women, parents and members of the local community will participate in these programmes. Around 25,000 invitations are being sent out to ensure that more people can be connected with the initiative. Around 500 people are proposed to participate in each Assembly constituency. They will include MLAs and other public representatives, beneficiaries, children, pregnant women, lactating women, parents, Anganwadi workers and helpers, creche workers and helpers, community representatives and other relevant stakeholders. Participants will also take a nutrition pledge during the programme.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that a special felicitation kit worth Rs 2,500 has also been prepared to honour Anganwadi workers. The kit includes a bag, uniform, insulated water bottle, cap, first-aid pouch and umbrella. During the Assembly-level programmes, the chief guest will present these kits to frontline workers associated with Anganwadi services. The kit will symbolise recognition and appreciation of the workers’ contribution towards taking Anganwadi services to people and strengthening their engagement with the community.
The Chief Minister said that these programmes being organised under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan have also been linked with the 9th National Nutrition Month 2026. The Department of Women and Child Development is observing National Nutrition Month from September 17, 2026, to October 17, 2026, under the Central Government-sponsored ‘Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan’ scheme. This year’s theme is ‘Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Zimmedari’. The objective is to raise awareness about nutrition, strengthen community participation and foster a sense of responsibility among people towards Anganwadi services.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that both the honouring of Anganwadi workers and public awareness about nutrition under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan are aimed at connecting people with a sense of service and responsibility. Anganwadi workers are an important link in this entire system. Recognising their contribution, acknowledging their work and considering the possibility of increasing their honorarium are all part of this commitment. Our endeavour is to ensure that the grassroots workers who help take government schemes and services to people also receive respect and support.
