BJP Should Explain Who Entered CM Residence Wearing Masks Late Saturday Night and Why: Priyanka Kakkar

New Delhi, Sept 2026 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday alleged that the entry of some masked people into the official residence of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal late Saturday night pointed towards a deeper conspiracy. AAP chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar questioned the BJP over who entered the Chief Minister’s residence at around 11 p.m. wearing masks and why, particularly when a committee was scheduled to inspect the premises on Monday.

Kakkar asked what the purpose was behind people entering the government residence while concealing their faces ahead of the inspection. She said that last year, Minister Parvesh Verma had released an edited video of the residence but had failed to show the alleged golden commode, bar or swimming pool. She claimed that the committee’s inspection this time would expose what she described as the BJP’s “false propaganda”.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Kakkar said that the BJP had been in power in Delhi for nearly one-and-a-half years but still appeared to have only former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on its mind when it came to governance and development.

She alleged that the BJP had resorted to every possible means to come to power in Delhi, including what she described as “vote theft”. She also referred to allegations that 40 votes each were added from a government bungalow associated with Parvesh Verma at a time when, according to her, he was not even authorised to occupy it. She further alleged that votes were deleted in every Assembly constituency in an effort to gain power.

Kakkar recalled that the BJP had made 6, Flagstaff Road a major political issue, but, she claimed, nothing came out of the allegations.

She said Kejriwal had vacated the residence on October 4, 2024. On January 8, 2025, then Delhi Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh had attempted to enter the premises to present the facts before the public. According to Kakkar, the BJP barricaded the area and prevented them from entering, forcing the leaders to sit on the road.

She said Parvesh Verma took oath as Delhi’s PWD Minister on February 20, 2025, and subsequently posted an edited video of the residence on March 26. Kakkar claimed that despite repeated BJP allegations about a swimming pool, golden commodes, golden sinks and a large bar inside the residence, none of these were visible in the video.

Instead, she said, the video showed curtains and utensils belonging to the government residence.

Kakkar questioned why people wearing masks and allegedly associated with the PWD department entered 6, Flagstaff Road under the cover of darkness on Saturday night. Showing the media a screenshot from a video, she claimed that masked individuals were seen entering the premises around 11 p.m.

She welcomed Monday’s proposed inspection, saying the AAP wanted the public to see the facts and what she described as the BJP’s “lies”.

Kakkar also raised allegations concerning expenditure on renovation of residences of Union ministers living in Lutyens’ Delhi. Citing an RTI, she claimed that nearly Rs 600 crore, or more than Rs 597 crore, had been spent on renovations over two years.

She further accused the BJP government of corruption in several areas and criticised its record on governance.

Kakkar also questioned the BJP over the incident in Satya Niketan in which children were killed. She asked how the accident occurred and how a fifth floor was constructed when such construction was allegedly not permitted in Delhi.

She alleged that local BJP MLA Anil Sharma runs 25 paying guest accommodations and demanded scrutiny of his residence.

Kakkar concluded by asking the BJP to explain the purpose of the masked visit to 6, Flagstaff Road. She said the video appeared to show a PWD truck and masked individuals at the site, adding that the department concerned should explain why they visited the premises ahead of Monday’s inspection.
