Amaravati, Sept 2026 : YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has intensified his criticism of the state government over alleged irregularities in the recruitment of teachers through the District Selection Committee (DSC) process.
Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday raised fresh questions over the recruitment process through a social media post, focusing on what he described as a series of inconsistencies in the appointment of one teacher candidate.
“One teacher post. A rollercoaster of twists & turns in this DSC scam,” he posted.
Addressing Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the YSRCP chief said explanations regarding the recruitment process appeared to be changing, with every new clarification raising additional questions for teacher aspirants.
According to Jagan Mohan Reddy, the candidate was initially shown as having 65 marks in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) and reportedly cleared seven stages of verification before being considered for appointment. However, the District Education Officer (DEO) subsequently confirmed that the candidate was ineligible.
Jagan questioned what exactly had been verified during the seven stages if the candidate was later found ineligible.
The former Chief Minister also highlighted another alleged discrepancy, claiming that the candidate received the teacher appointment without being aware of how the selection had taken place. He said the candidate himself had reportedly stated that he did not know how he had secured the job.
The fourth issue raised by Jagan concerned a sudden reference to 77 TET marks. According to him, officials later stated that the candidate had secured 77 marks in a 2018 TET examination.
“If those 77 marks were already on record, why were they not considered earlier? Why did the DEO declare him ineligible? And why did this explanation emerge only after questions were raised?” Jagan asked.
He further questioned the relevance of the 77 marks, stating that they were reportedly under Paper-II-B, meant for School Assistant Special Education, while Paper-I-A was the required TET category for a Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) post.
Jagan asked how the candidate could have cleared seven stages of verification if the required eligibility criteria were not met. He also pointed out that the candidate appeared for the TET again in 2025.
“If the 2018 score of 77 marks already made him eligible, then: What was the need to appear for TET again?” he questioned.
Jagan then questioned whether the recruitment process could be described as fair and transparent and alleged that the circumstances had enabled what he termed a “DSC scam”. He also asked Chandrababu Naidu whether he would accept moral responsibility for the alleged irregularities.
In another social media post on Saturday, Jagan had similarly criticised the government over cases involving teacher aspirants and sports certificates.
He referred to what he described as a series of contradictions: names allegedly missing from a winners’ list, a sports certificate reportedly being declared fake by Kho-Kho authorities, and Nagarjuna University allegedly stating that the sports event in question had never taken place.
Jagan has been demanding the resignation of Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh and calling for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged irregularities in the DSC recruitment process.
