Providing Quality Education and Equal Opportunities for Progress to Every Child is Our Priority: Chief Minister
Raipur, September 2026: Education is the foundation of the progress of an individual, society and the nation. It is essential for moving forward in every sphere of life, and teachers play the most important role in this entire process. Teachers not only impart academic knowledge to children but also shape their personalities, instil values, provide the right direction and lay a strong foundation for the bright future of society and the nation.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said this while addressing the district-level Teachers' Felicitation and Meritorious Students' Award Ceremony held at the Basic School Ground in Bemetara.
During the ceremony, Chief Minister Sai honoured 81 retired teachers from the district by presenting them shawls, coconuts, mementoes and certificates of appreciation. On the occasion, 42 meritorious students who performed exceptionally well in board and college examinations were also felicitated with gold medals and certificates by various social organisations.
Congratulating the honoured teachers and students, the Chief Minister said India has a glorious tradition of respecting teachers. Teachers build generations through their knowledge, experience and values. The impact of education imparted by a teacher is not limited to a single student but reaches the student's family, society and future generations. This is why teachers are regarded as nation-builders.
Sai said education is the light of knowledge that dispels the darkness of ignorance. It makes individuals aware of their rights and duties while developing confidence and decision-making abilities. Educated and cultured citizens are essential for building an empowered society and a developed nation.
He said India has been a land of knowledge and education since ancient times. Students from different parts of the world once travelled to renowned centres such as Takshashila and Nalanda to acquire knowledge. This rich tradition continues to inspire the country. With changing times and the rapid advancement of new technologies, education is also undergoing significant transformation. Therefore, it is essential to provide children with quality and modern education while preparing them for future requirements.
Equal Opportunities for Every Child
The Chief Minister said the state government is focusing on quality education along with expanding infrastructure and modern facilities. The objective is to ensure that no child in Chhattisgarh is left behind due to a lack of resources or opportunities.
He said every child, whether from a village or city and irrespective of their family's economic background, should receive equal opportunities to develop their talent, obtain quality education and fulfil their dreams.
Sai noted that Chhattisgarh has prestigious national-level institutions such as IIT, IIM, AIIMS and IIIT, which have created new opportunities for quality higher education for the state's youth.
He said facilities such as Nalanda Parisar are being expanded to provide better study environments and resources to youth preparing for competitive examinations. Students are being provided access to libraries, study material and other academic facilities. Similar facilities have also been made available in New Delhi for students from Chhattisgarh.
The Chief Minister said the government is supporting students through scholarships, education loans and various incentive schemes so that financial circumstances do not become a barrier to their education and dreams. The aim is to create not merely educated youth but confident, skilled and capable young people who can contribute significantly to the development of Chhattisgarh and India.
Development Announcements for Bemetara
Chief Minister Sai made two important announcements for Bemetara district. He announced an allocation of Rs 2 crore for construction of a Gaurav Path in Bemetara city and a new electricity sub-station in Tivaria Gram Panchayat.
He said the state government is working continuously to expand roads, electricity, drinking water and other basic infrastructure along with education. Better infrastructure in cities and villages will accelerate development and make people's lives more convenient.
Recognition for Water Conservation
Outstanding work carried out under the “Mor Gaon Mor Pani” campaign for water conservation and improving groundwater levels was also recognised during the ceremony. Janpad Panchayats Bemetara, Berla and Nawagarh were specially honoured for their efforts to move Bemetara district from the critical zone towards the semi-critical zone.
Sai said water conservation is an issue linked to future generations and protecting every drop of water is a collective responsibility. He stressed that major changes are possible when public participation is combined with government initiatives.
A publication titled Shikshak Smriti, brought out by intellectual citizens and social organisations, was also released during the programme.
Governance and Welfare for Positive Change
The Chief Minister said the state government is committed to the welfare of every section of society, including the poor, farmers, women and youth. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the dream of permanent houses is being fulfilled for needy families, while the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has provided financial support to women.
He said technology is being used to make government services more transparent, simple and citizen-centric. Initiatives such as the Atal Monitoring Portal, Seva Setu and Chief Minister's Helpline are helping reduce the distance between the government and citizens.
Sai said the country is moving towards the goal of a developed India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Chhattisgarh will play an important role in this journey, and the foundation of a developed state will be built through quality education, skilled youth and empowered villages and cities.
Referring to Prime Minister Modi completing 25 years in public life, Sai appealed to people to light a lamp at their homes on the evening of September 17 and further strengthen the resolve for service, development and public welfare.
Teachers are Builders of Society and Nation: Arun Sao
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao said the teacher has always held the highest position in India's knowledge tradition. Teachers dispel the darkness of ignorance, spread the light of knowledge and provide the younger generation with the right direction.
He said teachers build not only the future of students but also that of society and the nation. Their knowledge, experience and guidance are an invaluable legacy for future generations.
Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Dayaldas Baghel said education creates confidence and the strength to progress in life. Teachers play an important role in making students responsible and value-based citizens. He said teachers spread the light of knowledge like lamps and help shape children's future.
MLAs Deepesh Sahu and Ishwar Sahu, Rajakkar Development Board chairman Prahlad Rajak, Chhattisgarh Gau Seva Commission vice-chairman Swami Rajeev Lochan Das, Telghani Board chairman Jitendra Sahu, Collector Pratishtha Mamgain, District Panchayat chairperson Kalpana Yogesh Tiwari, public representatives, officials, teachers, students and a large number of citizens were present at the event.
