Assures farmers of government assistance; inspects affected fields in Kalori, Khadki Khamkhed, Rohinkhed and Takli
Buldhana, Sept 2026 : A prolonged break in rainfall and adverse weather conditions have caused extensive damage to crops in Buldhana district. Against this backdrop, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited farmers in their fields and assured them that the government stood firmly behind them.
Shinde visited Kalori in Khamgaon taluka and Khadki Khamkhed, Rohinkhed and Takli in Motala taluka to assess the crop damage and interact with farmers. He assured them that they would not be left to fend for themselves and sought details about their difficulties and losses.
During the visit, farmers informed the Deputy Chief Minister about extensive damage to soybean and other crops. Some farmers said their fields had suffered 100 per cent damage, with soybean pods failing to develop grains.
Orders have been issued to the administration to conduct crop damage assessments, or panchnamas, and the process is being expedited. Shinde said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other members of the state Cabinet were also visiting farmers and assessing the situation on the ground.
He said the government was considering farmers’ demands for crop insurance and financial assistance and was positively examining appropriate relief measures in view of the drought-like situation.
Farmers are receiving assistance through various schemes of the state government as well as the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. Shinde said efforts would also be made to secure substantial assistance from the Union government for the state in view of the prevailing situation.
The Deputy Chief Minister urged farmers not to take any extreme step during the crisis. He assured them that necessary measures would be taken to address their difficulties.
When a farmer raised concerns about difficulties in providing education to his child, Shinde also assured the family that necessary assistance would be extended.
Minister for Soil and Water Conservation Sanjay Rathod, Labour Minister Akash Fundkar, MLA Sanjay Gaikwad, local public representatives, administrative officials and farmers from the surrounding areas were present during the visits.
