Mumbai, September 2026 : Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam directed officials to take necessary steps towards preparing an annual recruitment schedule to make the police recruitment process in the state more transparent, accessible, systematic and time-bound. He also emphasised the need for more effective planning of the recruitment process so that candidates receive clear information about the recruitment schedule and have sufficient time to prepare in advance.
A detailed review of the 2025-26 police recruitment process was conducted at a meeting chaired by Minister of State Yogesh Kadam at Mantralaya. MLA Bacchu Kadu, who participated through video conferencing, Director General of Police (Training) Krishna Prakash, and senior officials from the Home Department and Police Department were present at the meeting.
Kadam directed officials to take necessary strategic measures to finalise the schedule for the initial stages of the recruitment process. He also called for the required decisions and approvals to be obtained at the government level and for the recruitment exercise to be conducted in a planned and systematic manner.
The meeting also discussed scheduling the written examination and physical tests for police recruitment while taking into account the schedules of various competitive examinations and recruitment drives conducted by the security forces of the Central Government. The officials also reviewed measures to streamline document verification, medical examinations and the appointment process. Planning for vacant posts across various police units and ensuring timely recruitment against vacancies arising from the retirement of personnel were also discussed.
The capacity of the state's 10 police training centres, the infrastructure and facilities required for trainees, strengthening of training infrastructure, and the response to recruitment of women were also reviewed. Discussions were also held on coordinating recruitment processes for the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), Prisons Department, Home Guard reservations, compassionate appointments and other categories.
Minister of State Kadam directed officials to examine available options and take necessary action to further strengthen the technical aspects of the recruitment process, online application system, selection procedure, transparency, merit and administrative efficiency.
