Mumbai, Sep 2026 : A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Maharashtra Industries Department and Sukhjit Starch and Chemicals in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for setting up a mega project in the Yeola Industrial Area of Nashik district, involving an investment of Rs 760 crore and expected to generate around 3,200 employment opportunities.
The MoU was formally exchanged at an event held at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Industries Minister Uday Samant, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) Chief Executive Officer Dipendra Singh Kushwah, former MP Sameer Bhujbal and Bhavdeep Sardana of Sukhjit Starch and Chemicals were present on the occasion.
Mega Project for Value-Added Products
The proposed project of Sukhjit Starch and Chemicals Ltd, which will process maize and manufacture a range of value-added products, has been accorded Mega Project status. The company has proposed an investment of Rs 760 crore in the project, which is expected to create employment opportunities for approximately 3,200 people.
Of these, around 200 jobs will be direct employment opportunities, while nearly 3,000 indirect jobs are expected to be generated through the project and its associated activities.
The project is proposed to be established in the Yeola Industrial Area in Yeola taluka of Nashik district. The company plans to manufacture a wide range of maize-based products, including maize starch, dextrose anhydrous, dextrose monohydrate, sorbitol 70 per cent solution, glucose syrup, maltose syrup, maize gluten, maize germ, maize oil, maize bran/cattle feed and maize oil cake.
The proposed investment is expected to strengthen maize processing and value addition in the region while creating a larger market for maize produced by farmers in Nashik district.
The project is also expected to contribute to the industrial development of the Yeola region by strengthening agro-based manufacturing and creating employment opportunities for local communities. Increased demand for maize as an industrial raw material could provide farmers with additional market opportunities and support the development of the agricultural value chain.
Officials said the project would be significant from the perspective of promoting agro-based industries, generating local employment and encouraging value addition to agricultural produce.
The establishment of the mega project is expected to deepen the connection between agriculture and industry in Nashik district, while providing opportunities for farmers, workers and allied businesses. The investment is also likely to contribute to the broader industrial development of the Yeola Industrial Area.
The MoU marks another step towards attracting large-scale investments into Maharashtra and promoting manufacturing projects that can generate employment while making greater use of locally available agricultural resources.
