Visakhapatnam, Aug 2026 : BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Opposition, accusing it of promoting “anti-social elements” and repeatedly undermining democratic institutions. Addressing the extended executive meeting of the BJP’s Andhra Pradesh unit in Visakhapatnam, Nabin said the party would respond firmly to the language used by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while maintaining its own standards of dignity and discipline.
Nabin said the prevailing political environment required BJP workers to remain conscious of the challenges before the country. He alleged that the Opposition, particularly the Congress, had adopted a mindset that was damaging democratic institutions and creating divisions in society.
“We also need to keep today's political situation in mind. Today, we are faced with an opposition that has such a mindset, which is trying to promote anti-social elements in the country,” he said.
The BJP president also criticised the conduct of Opposition leaders in Parliament and accused the Congress of disrespecting democratic values. Referring to the remarks made by the Leader of Opposition against the Prime Minister, Nabin said BJP workers were known for their dignity and values but would not remain silent when the Prime Minister was targeted.
“BJP workers are known for their dignity and values, but the way the Leader of the Opposition has used words for PM Modi, we must give a sharp response while staying within our dignity,” he said.
Nabin said the BJP’s political vision was centred on social harmony, development and inclusive growth, while alleging that the Congress had repeatedly chosen a different path by questioning or insulting democratic institutions.
Taking a personal swipe at Rahul Gandhi, Nabin described him as a “part-time politician” and alleged that he focused on issues that diverted public attention from matters concerning faith, development and national progress.
The BJP chief also underlined the importance of reaching out to young people and understanding their aspirations. He urged party workers to engage in continuous dialogue with the youth, particularly those seeking opportunities and looking to contribute to the country's development.
“Today, young people have opportunities to advance in different sectors. We must engage in dialogue with the youth who want to discuss their aspirations and concerns. We must address the aspirations and expectations of this young generation,” he said.
Nabin highlighted the government's initiatives, including Make in India, and said they had created new avenues for young Indians. He stressed that the aspirations of the country's youth extended beyond conventional employment.
“Youth means being committed to nation-building. Bharat’s youth are not merely seeking jobs; through startups, they are creating jobs and opportunities for others,” he said.
Calling upon BJP leaders and workers to strengthen their connection with the people, Nabin said government schemes, achievements and party programmes should be communicated directly to citizens through sustained public outreach. He said continuous dialogue and grassroots engagement were essential for both the country's development and the BJP's organisational growth.
“As long as we maintain dialogue, contact and a strong connection with the people, we will continue to succeed in contributing to the development of Bharat and the growth of the BJP,” he said.
Nabin also spoke about India's development trajectory under Prime Minister Modi, claiming that the country was progressing across sectors. He said infrastructure development had received a major push, with projects worth more than Rs 8 lakh crore currently underway.
According to Nabin, the Prime Minister's long-term vision goes beyond creating world-class infrastructure and seeks to establish India as a major global manufacturing hub. He said the BJP government was working towards the larger goal of building a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
He linked this vision with the ideological legacy of prominent BJP leaders and said the party remained committed to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee's nationalism, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya's philosophy of Antyodaya, and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's emphasis on good governance.
During his visit, Nabin also held a meeting with BJP state office-bearers, district presidents and district in-charges in the presence of Andhra Pradesh BJP president P.V.N. Madhav. The discussions focused on strengthening the party organisation, improving coordination among various levels of the party and expanding public outreach across Andhra Pradesh.
Describing Andhra Pradesh as a distinctive state that was making significant progress on the development front, Nabin called upon party workers to further strengthen the momentum.
“This is our collective effort, and we must take it forward. Only through continuous dialogue and engagement with the people can we ensure that the government’s schemes reach every citizen,” he said.
Nabin also hoisted the BJP flag during his visit and said the occasion served as a reminder of the collective responsibility of party workers to uphold the organisation's ideals and values through dedication, discipline and a spirit of service.
He later visited an exhibition organised by the Andhra Pradesh BJP. The exhibition showcased the party's organisational journey over the past year across all 28 districts, highlighting public service initiatives, organisational expansion and the efforts of BJP workers.
Nabin said the display reflected the dedication of the party's karyakartas and their continued efforts to strengthen the BJP's presence while contributing to the broader objective of building a developed India.
