Rae Bareli, Sep 2026 : Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to arrive in his parliamentary constituency of Rae Bareli on Tuesday for a two-day visit during which he will review ongoing development projects and assess the situation in flood-affected areas.
Gandhi will chair a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA), where officials are expected to present detailed updates on various government schemes, pending matters and issues requiring intervention.
Administrative authorities have been preparing department-wise reports ahead of the meeting. The reports will include the progress of development projects as well as action taken on directions issued during the previous DISHA meeting. Officials are expected to brief Gandhi on the implementation status of key schemes and highlight matters that remain unresolved.
The previous DISHA meeting in Rae Bareli was chaired by Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma.
Besides reviewing development-related issues, Gandhi is expected to visit flood-affected areas in Shivgarh and Maharajganj during his two-day tour. He is likely to interact with residents, hear their concerns and assess the damage caused by the recent floods.
Local administration officials are compiling information from different departments to ensure that the status of development works and pending cases is presented comprehensively during the meeting. The exercise is also aimed at facilitating a review of projects and addressing bottlenecks affecting their implementation.
Gandhi's visit comes at a time when Rae Bareli is witnessing increased attention to development-related issues ahead of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. His planned interaction with residents in flood-hit areas is expected to provide an opportunity to gather direct feedback on local concerns, infrastructure challenges and the difficulties caused by the recent flooding.
The visit will also bring the focus onto the implementation of government welfare and development schemes in the constituency. Officials are expected to outline progress across various departments and explain the steps taken in response to earlier directions.
Gandhi had earlier undertaken a two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh on May 19 and 20. During that tour, he inaugurated a marriage hall in Bachhrawan, Rae Bareli, constructed using funds from his Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).
The latest visit is expected to combine a review of development initiatives with an assessment of the humanitarian situation in flood-affected parts of the constituency. His meetings with officials and local residents are likely to provide a platform for discussing both immediate relief requirements and longer-term development priorities in Rae Bareli.
