Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Rewa has a strong standing in agriculture, particularly in horticulture and natural farming. Agriculture is the backbone of the district’s economy. The hard work and dedication of farmers have resulted in substantial production of paddy, wheat, gram, lentil, linseed and soybean, giving a new impetus to Rewa’s economy. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav addressed farmers participating in the Balaram Krishi Mahotsav in Rewa through video conference from Mantralaya on Monday.
Addressing the farmers, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that work on the Sleemanabad Tunnel is progressing rapidly towards completion. Once completed, Narmada water will reach the agricultural fields of Rewa, strengthening irrigation and drinking water facilities in the region. He said that upon completion of the irrigation projects in Teonthar, Lohi, Sirmour and Semariya, around 1.32 lakh hectares of land in Rewa district would receive irrigation facilities. The Chief Minister also informed farmers that the state government would provide free registered ownership documents to all patta holders whose land allotment documents do not yet have a formal registry. The state government will bear the registration cost for 50 lakh such pattas, estimated at around ₹4,000 crore.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav held an interaction with public representatives and four progressive farmers from the district and learnt about their experiences before and after adopting innovative farming practices beyond traditional agriculture. The farmers said that mechanised and technology-based farming using advanced agricultural equipment, as well as natural farming through the use of organic manure, had proved more beneficial. The Chief Minister called upon farmers from across the district to adopt natural farming, horticulture, Shri Anna, animal husbandry and crop diversification.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that 1,000 hectares in Rewa district is being developed as a natural farming cluster to promote natural farming. He said that Basaman Mama Gau-Abhyaranya is emerging as a major centre for cattle conservation and rural self-reliance. The Natural Farming Training Centre operating there is helping farmers learn and adopt Jeevamrit, Ghan Jeevamrit and modern techniques of natural farming.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that moving beyond traditional farming, farmers in Rewa were setting new benchmarks in horticulture and natural farming. He noted that the district produces guava, amla and jackfruit on a large scale, reflecting its agricultural diversity.
Rewa is also making progress in Shri Anna production. Under the State Millet Mission, the cultivation of millet crops such as Kodo and Kutki is being expanded to promote crop diversification. He said that Shri Anna cultivation would not only increase farmers’ incomes but also strengthen nutritional security for families. The Chief Minister also extended greetings to all farmers on Teja Dashami, Dol Gyaras and Ganeshotsav.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla also addressed farmers at the main venue of the Balaram Krishi Mahotsav in Rewa. Administrator of the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Bank (Apex Bank) Shri Mahendra Singh Yadav, Chairman of the Vindhya Development Authority Shri Panchulal Prajapati, Vice-Chairman Shri Praveen Tripathi, Rewa Zila Panchayat Chairperson Smt. Neeta Kol, Shri Siddharth, Shri Kapil Yarde, Shri Virendra Gupta and a large number of farmers were present on the occasion.
