Saitual, September 2026: Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse, visited Saitual District and held a meeting with heads of government departments and representatives of various Sports Associations.
Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse urged the heads of government departments, being local residents themselves, to take greater initiative and work more actively for the welfare of the local people. She also called upon them to make greater efforts so that the public can gain maximum benefit from various Central Government schemes. She stated that Mizoram has high production in organic farming and expressed hope that, if proper food-processing facilities are developed for locally grown vegetables and fruits, these products could be exported to other states and countries at a greater profit.
The Union Minister stated that her meeting with the Mizoram Sports Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar earlier in the day shed light on the importance to improve sports infrastructure so that the talents and abilities of children can be identified and nurtured while they are still attending school. She also expressed concern over the problems caused by drug trafficking and drug abuse in Mizoram. She said that she wanted young people to take an active role in the fight against drugs through the Government's programme Mera Yuva Bharat, so that they would be protected from drug-related problems.
Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse further urged government officials to take review meetings seriously, noting that the minutes of such meetings are regularly submitted to the Prime Minister's Office. She also called for renewed efforts in data collection and proper preparation for meetings.
During today's meeting, Saitual Deputy Commissioner Shri Srinivas Sadi gave a detailed overview of Saitual District and presented the activities and achievements of various government departments through a PowerPoint presentation. Saitual SP Shri Vivek Kumar Maurya also spoke at the meeting and presented data on the number of drug-related arrests made during the past year. He stated that, as Saitual District shares borders with other states and neighbouring country like Myanmar, the district has recorded a high number of drug-trafficking cases and seizures.
Today's meeting was chaired by Saitual Deputy Commissioner Shri Srinivas Sadi. Heads of District-level government offices and representatives of Sports Associations from across the district attended the meeting, where they raised their requirements and concerns relating to sports and expressed their appreciation for various initiatives undertaken by the Central Government for the youth. Shri Srinivas Sadi noted the various areas requiring action and stated that necessary steps would be taken. He concluded the meeting by expressing his gratitude to Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse and all those who attended.
Tomorrow, Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse will interact with government officials in Kolasib through video conferencing from Saitual. Following this, she will visit Saitual District Hospital, after which she will proceed towards Aizawl.
