Lucknow, September 2026 : Taking forward Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of citizen-centric, transparent and technology-driven governance, Uttar Pradesh has taken a major step towards making revenue services simpler and more citizen-friendly.
The Revenue Board has launched an EWS portal to make the process of obtaining an Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate online and transparent. It has also introduced a simplified Khatauni to make land records clearer and more accurate for citizens. Alongside these initiatives, a portal has been launched to take the process of land partition under Section 116 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code online.
Revenue Board Chairperson Archana Agrawal inaugurated the three facilities at the Ambedkar Auditorium of the Revenue Board on Friday.
EWS Certificate Process to Become Easier
With the launch of the EWS portal, economically weaker section citizens will be able to apply for certificates online. Applications can subsequently be forwarded and disposed of online at the Lekhpal and Tehsildar levels.
Applicants will also be able to digitally track the status and stage of their applications. The system is expected to reduce paperwork and minimise the need for citizens to repeatedly visit tehsils and government offices.
Digital monitoring of the entire process is also expected to strengthen accountability, ensure timely disposal and improve transparency. The initiative is aimed particularly at citizens who previously had to make repeated visits to offices to obtain certificates.
Simplified Khatauni to Improve Land Records
The simplified Khatauni has been designed to make land records easier for ordinary citizens to understand and access. Under the new system, the area of land will be displayed up to six decimal places, providing greater accuracy in land-related information.
Details of old orders available in the archives, as well as previous mortgage orders, will also be made available in an organised format. This will help citizens and revenue officials access historical records and orders relating to land ownership more easily.
The initiative is expected to simplify the process of understanding land records and reduce difficulties in locating information from old documents.
Land Partition Process Goes Online
Under Section 116 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code, co-sharers can file cases seeking partition of land. The process has now been brought online through a dedicated portal.
Citizens will be able to submit applications for land partition digitally. The process of issuing notices and making announcements will also be conducted and monitored through the portal.
Reports submitted by the concerned Lekhpal will be available online. A map facility has also been incorporated to help officials view the actual geographical location of the land.
The system is expected to improve coordination between court proceedings and field-level action and facilitate more transparent and timely disposal of land partition cases.
Focus on Technology and Sensitivity
Archana Agrawal said revenue administration is directly connected with citizens and their land-related rights. Therefore, the objective of technology and new initiatives should not merely be to put processes online but to ensure simple, transparent and time-bound solutions to citizens’ problems.
She urged young officers to work with sensitivity, impartiality and a spirit of public service while making maximum use of technology.
PCS Trainees Briefed on Revenue Administration
An interaction with PCS trainee officers was also organised during the programme. The trainees were briefed on the functioning of the Revenue Board and the important role played by revenue administration at the field level.
A demonstration of modern and accurate land measurement using rover technology was also conducted. The trainee officers interacted with officials on revenue administration, the use of technology and practical challenges faced at the field level.
